Re: 18* SBC engine

What carb are you going to use? Is it going to be a progressive throttle set up or one to one? Going to a progressive set will help the corner off. That's a good manifold for your set up.

Are you using O2's in the headers? You need to make sure your jetting is right. What Manifold is on the engine? What kind of dry sump is it?

Re: NASCAR going to EFI next year

We are limited to cup testing at a Nascar track. There are only 3 more cup test at giving tracks this year. As a team you can test any where you want just not at a Nascar track. We test alot at Rockingham, VIR, Gresham, tracks like that. We can not test, say at Charlotte or Daytona any time we want ...

Re: NASCAR going to EFI next year

la360, The manifold will be the same as a standered 4 brl intake. The location of the injectors are set from the center line of throttle body out. The distance is the same for TRD, Chevy, Ford , and Dodge. The only differance is the offset, because of the engine. The angle of the injectors is 90 deg...

They used 18 deg heads, 830 carb with 9:1 comp, Roller cam, and a 5 stage oil pump. I think around 630 to 660 on hp

The Edelbrock 2962 can not be ported larger then a 617 or a 691. The 2962 will give a good TQ curve but the 617 or a GM 699 will give give better top end results. Edebrock had a 2966 which will run great up to 10,200. Look for a manifold that will give you a long plunmen lenght.

Where did the heads come from? They sound like they are an old set of cup heads.

What size jets are it? Did you change any when testing? Air bleeds are for fine tuning. That far off I would be changing jets first.

I have. With your application you can raise the roof up past nascar rules which helps with line of sight to the intake valve. A bigger intake valve helps too. Is the port opening you have around 2.150*1.650 with a .500" radius? I talked to a guy I work with today and he says the ex port might b...

Valve weight kills. The lighter you can make the valve train the better your off. 11/32 hollow stem valve would be great, a standard 11/32 valve stem bad. For that big of a CID engine (460) I think 300cc is a little small. 330-350cc would pick you up in rpm range and hp. A 2.20 intake would help too...

What sizes are the valves? 2.180/1.625? The holes by the spark plug are for pressure sensors, yes you can plug them. 6mm and 7mm valve stems are fine to use, but you have to have your valve train right to do it. What rpm are you shooting for? Bore size? You might want to try a 617 GM manifold or a E...
