Take a look at the difference in exhaust temperatures between an idling Diesel engine and an idling spark ignited Otto cycle engine.

What's amazing is Grump's A/S 327-350 Nova was running the dual-quad 426 hemi Mopars heads-up and beating them. Was even the A/S record holder for a while during that period.
