Ok, thought someone may have already done it
Can't see any major problems so I'll go ahead and report back when ...... or if ...... it reaches teardown end of season

Fel Pro 1144
I'm putting together a 430 SBC, short oval, about 600 bhp NA ..... I'm using Fel Pro MLS 1144 gaskets and would, for various reasons, fit them 'upside down' as it were, with the embossed bead facing up Dart little M, I've put a sleeve in #8, overhauled old Dart Alum heads ...... I'm not concerned ab...

Re: epoxy to repair damaged jet tower on motorcycle carbs
Generally speaking ......
It's the alcohol constituent of 'gas', if present, that tends to attack the various epoxies, so just be aware of that
And you can't really 'barrier' coat it, as you might say in an intake port, to protect it in a carb as it's continually immersed in the fuel

I think it's understandable to debate the nuts & bolts ....... sequence even ...... of the process, but it's really what works for you It seems as the main bugbear is when people lose control of the process to the customer, that's when it get's annoying, and you have to aim not to allow that to ...

Re: Anyone been able to reach Isky Cams lately?
Pretty much everyone faces the same problems, especially if you're a limited operation or one man band ...... talking as a machinist/builder Initial contact I'm happy to take over the phone, it's more personable and many potential customers feel happier talking to the organ grinder ...... although t...

Re: SBC Valves - GMPP Vortec Heads
I quickly took cylinder 3 intake spring off and attempted to slide the valve out, but I can't get it out of the guide. It only goes down to the lock area and stops, I could probably force it down, but I didn't. I am worried that the valve stem maybe bent....or have you come across an issue with the...

Re: My CompCams Cam Card ECL Question
If the numbers are indeed accurate I'd see it more as confirmation of good QC than some kind of error
If my maths are correct you're talking 1 / 7200 of a circle, or 3 minutes, which is a very small amount and I'd guess well within tolerance

Likely 5/16", if so I'd use a common 8mm 'sump plug' bit
As said, I doubt it's going anywhere, with any bit, without prudent use of heat prior .....

Re: 351w crank specs
A lot will depend on the intended use, budget ...... and what you can handle yourself , but generally ....... Assuming the crank journals are relatively round & straight , and it's a budget deal, I'd first put the mains in the block and measure the clearance ...... anything at the upper end unde...

Re: Narrowing rods?
A picture is worth a thousand words ..... but you're not narrowing them much, so it's likely possible The bearings may or may not need narrowing, you may get away with just chamefering them to clear the fillet A lot of this will depend on your machining skills and equipment, if you have to pay someo...

Wiseco Red piston weight
Does anyone have a ballpark total weight for these, so I can rough gauge the balance I have already ?
Pistons, pins & rings ...... if it's on the Wiseco site I can't see it
They're a couple of weeks out and time is getting tight
TIA John

Re: exhaust valve diagnosis
Radial 'distress' on a valve ..... up to and including actual cracking ..... is usually a sign on thermal overloading, as said
Either the material isn't up to it, unlikely in this case, or something else is causing thermal overloading ..... obviously

Re: How centered does a piston pin need to be?
Never cared much for the Sunnen system, it still pushes against the piston boss, and as most piston bosses have a draught ..... they're closer together near the crown ........ you simply can't push against the boss squarely, so deform it blah blah A fixture that supports the pin end of the rod direc...
