Re: Carbon Fiber Brake Rotor Material
Hi Russian material rotors can be done at $1050 + shipping costs. German DMC rotors are $1450 + shipping costs. Pads about $200 a piece from both. These are for road racing sizes, for the small sizes like what strange is offering the price from the Russian supplier can be less because they are an ai...

Re: Nitriding a cam?
DLC is successfully used on finger follower systems in motogp and f1(Cam and follower coated iirc) but plasma nitriding is cheap, last time I asked for DLC pricing on wrist pins it was up there.

Re: Protean’s high torque in-wheel motors
Probably for the same reason that you don't see many(or is that any?) cars with the brakes mounted inboard. I know it's been done at the rear though, but not sure of the front. Oh, some lovely cars such as Citroëns and the early 70's Audi 100 had inboard front disc brakes... I knew there would be s...

Hi The alternative alloy used is called Trojan, http://www.columbiametals.co.uk/products/details/index.php?id=84&category=8&industry=&trademark= I used it a long time ago and they were very easy to deal with and order from. They don't have the full specification on the website anymore bu...

Re: Any mazda rotary guys ?
Hi I've worked on these, you should try to brace the engine when you make serious power, basically put some strong dowel pins at 4-8 places at each plate joint (We used some 4340 pins with a wall thickness I think of either 2mm or 3mm around 30mm long, quite a few of them since we went with 8 pins p...

Re: General Limitations of 4032 Piston Alloy
The room temperature figures aren't the only thing that is important, as 2618 becomes hotter the elongation increases quite a bit, but only a slight increase with 4032, so if 4032 starts at 3% at room temperature, then at operating temperature it could still be as low as 4%, 2618 may start at 10% bu...
