Re: Questions Regarding Siamesed Intake Ports (9 Port Head)

:D My engine bay is even tighter than your '59 Apache was, moregrip. I am swapping the 292 into a '57 Chevy passenger car. This will be a road car. A driver. And I will pull a boat trailer with it up in the Texas hill country from time to time. I will use it like a truck. That's why I'm building th...

I want to say that a guy whose handle was, "540Rat", has/had a great big deal about oils! Seems he really got into them through the years.

If you want, then hunt him up.

Re: Questions Regarding Siamesed Intake Ports (9 Port Head)

Back in HS, I wrecked a great '55 Bel Air 2-Dr HT screwing around. Wished I had it back as one of my '52 Willys Aero Eagle HT cars. The '55 cost all of $350 back then and was in great shape. The Willys was given to me from my F-I-L, but I bought one earlier for $18. My Buddy Tom blew everything from...

^^^^^^^^^^^ Ask yourself how many ethylene glycol plants are there? I think several years ago, one went down for some reason and it spiked for a bit until the plant was back on line. And I have to say that I have ran W/W's Tech2000 oil in all our vehicles including lawnmowers just fine. For more yea...

Re: Ford's Mystery Fix Explained

Peejay, honestly I thought you were joking when you said you were going to: "shore up the block by hammering shims into the relief slots cut into the deck between the bores" I thought you were quoting some obscure internet post by someone after I posted Fords statement: "Interesting, leaking coolan...

Re: Questions Regarding Siamesed Intake Ports (9 Port Head)

Harry, the head work used and retaining the Siamese ports may seem out of place to V8 guys..But a properly reworked stock head can support 1.5 HP per cubic...However, I believe it would be very lumpy for street use... I was a actively involved in the Inliners club for many years...There was talk of...

Re: 462 double hump hp capability

To get your CR up there, you might consider hunting up a good pair of 305HO, -601 heads.

They have 1.84"/1.50" valves, a 53 to 55 cc double quench chamber, and should cc at 160 or so cc's, intake port size.

At least mine did

BUT cc them...

Re: Freightliner (Daimler) predicts end of diesels in big trucks,,!

I want to say that I read somewhere a time ago of people that had not seen dark nights for a long time because of the constant flaring off of Nat'l Gas in their country. I want to say someplace in Africa. It finally got cost effective to catch the stuff and sell it is what happened so their nights t...

Re: Help with cam selection, chevy inline 6. i screwed up

I kinda like the spec's of the old stock Chevy -929 hi-cam that was used in about ALL the base, lo-po- V-8's through the years. I think it is like-- 195/202, 112/108, .390"/.410" lift. Sucker pulls like a freight-train so you might consider getting one for a 6-banger. Or ask CamKing for his recommen...

Re: 455 OLDS ENGINE

Won't the Riviera have a Buick 455 in it and not an Olds?

I do know that the BOP's all had their own 455 engines back then..

And of course the 454 Chevy and 472/500 Cads.
