Re: Old Crane 266/210 hy-cam.

Thanks guys for putting up with me!

Now, about the old, "Performer", hy-cam

278/204/288/214, 112/107, .420"/.442".....

How does it do in these very mild engines I have been asking about?

And I know that it basically is just step up from the great old stock, -929 cam.

Re: 400 sbc build

I had a 406 with the short stock 400 rods in it and it ran fine. But that said, I still dearly love the 3" stroked little engines up top! I am going to shift my 325" engine, (4.155" bore x 3.000" stroke), up around 8,000 rpm just for sh*ts and grins! Show the ricers what high rpm...

Re: Old Crane 266/210 hy-cam.

How does the 266/210 compare to the old 274H06?

I know it is like comparing apples to oranges at 266/210 vs 274/218..... Say even drop the 266 back to 106 like the 274H06.

But for MILD little engines up to the 350 and maybe even a stock 400...

Old Crane 266/210 hy-cam.

266/210, 110/105(?), .440" lift. How did it run in these engines? STOCK 220hp/283, stock 307(??), 300hp/327, 295hp/350, 265hp/400... I'm thinking a pretty-much stock CR in all of them, some mild bowel blending is all, along with an old SP-2P and say an old, tuned 1850 Holley 600 cfm carb,, smal...

Stock and hopped Z-28 engines here..

Just how much power did these little old engines really make?

I made a junk 301 that I figure was only like only 325 hp..So know a little bit about them.

Re: 427 tall deck help

I personally like my 496", but a tall deck block should bore to 4.375",, sonic check to be sure. Add a 4.375" crank and you make like a 526" engine.. I really like a 598" low deck engine, 4.6" x 4.5" jobber... Rod ratio isn't all that bad and you can say it is a st...

Re: Anything inherently wrong with this BBC combo?

10 to 1 CR, I would back it off to like 9.5 to 1 and install no more than a CC 282S solid cam in her.

I have one in my 496 that is right at 9.5 to 1.

I figure that you will be very happy with one..

Re: Mopar B block open chamber heads

I am back and will be serious here! I seem to recall an old mag article where CR was tested using the totally open chambered 400 MOPAR heads like being discussed here. The article started at something like 12 to 1 or maybe even 13 to 1. Then the article went down hill using a bunch of different thic...

Re: Factory 396/427 chevy cylinder heads

Unlimited spring pressures and shaft mounted roller rockers on Chevies along with the aftermarket blocks was a huge gain for them. Rocker mounting must remain as produced in Stock Eliminator. In short, you can't run a shaft rocker system on any engine that originally came with stud mounted rockers....

Re: Street Mufflers

Every muffler I have used that relied on some sort of packing or fiber to help quiet things down has become significantly louder in a very short time. I know they are somewhat heavier, but try steel pack, smooth perforated inner pipe real steel packs. They won't burn out!! If you can still buy them...

I really want to try one of these set-ups on something. Probably not the quietest but wicked cool in execution. 8) http://www.ramairrestoration.com/chevy/complete-exhaust-systems/uxo-30-universal-side-exit-oval-exhuast-sys-with-x-over.html I want to say that my Brothers '70.5 340 TA 6-Pak had an ex...
