Re: Another reason not to buy Speedmaster shit

I just checked on Summit, where Jay bought the one he used for the video. Looks like they pulled them. You woulda thought someone at summit wouldve looked at what they were selling, but i guess not. Yes, they replied immediately on his You Tube video with an apology and stated they were pulling the...

Re: Another reason not to buy Speedmaster shit

Unbelievable. Messing with the little guy now. I have been running two C6 bodies from Broader Performance for many years and they work flawlessly.

Re: 401 sbc ready for the Dyno

The video? He says early it’s a controlled test with all componentry held the same other than modules between the distributors so that’s what’s getting tested. In reality it’s timing curve that’s tested between distributors. If he wants to be “scientific” about a controlled test he has to copy the ...

Re: 401 sbc ready for the Dyno

Something to check on the Progression misfire if you haven't already. The switched power to the distributor must be a full 12V. When I first ran mine it had a very slight misfire at higher rpm. My switched power was below 12V. I changed the wiring to correct it. The miss went away and has run flawl...

Re: 401 sbc ready for the Dyno

I've seen where Big Joe and others have always had power losses with the extreme lid but also saw where power masters I think found that also and taped up the round filter and pulled only thru the lid and power picked right back up to match dyno's airflow hat alone. They theorized both this and the...

I'll be interested in how it works for you. And of equal importance will be how it's still working for you in a years time or so. This app based technology is great and all however it can be fleeting should that software become unsupported and doesn't have a hard wired workaround. I have the same c...

Re: 383 sbc first dyno experience

If the drop base leaned the afr it had to change the air path across the vent tubes and/or the air bleeds. I don't like to have anything closer than 1" to the vent tube openings. If you can't avoid that I would recommend using a "flute" tube to tie the two vent tubes together.

Re: aluminum block and power loss?

Here's a good one, too bad the resident gurus ran him off. https://www.speed-talk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=53928 I personally don't think there is much, if any, difference between iron and aluminum blocks if they are honed correctly. But this dyno comparison has too many variables to make a conclu...

Re: SBF HP & TQ GUESS!!

Result's are in and a little heart breaking.............it peaked at only 8000rpm leaving the builder head scratching, thought it would go 9000rpm. Made 1042hp @8000rpm and killer torque in the 720's. Builder might change cam and go twin carb's, up to the customer with what he want's to do. Being a...

Agreed. They affect each other and can sneak up on you, depending on the combination

Re: Valve spring properties order of importance

Typically you would look for the smallest diameter spring that would give you the required force, both seat and open, while maintaining proper coil bind clearance. Coil bind clearance will vary with spring and system/usage, but is typically. 040-.070. You want the cleanest material you can find (up...
