Re: World alu block; removing material for lifter tie-bars.
Are there any other brand lifters you can check to see how they fit? As long as one lifter holds the tie bar firmly, I'd think the other isn't as crucial. I'd prob grind the tie bar itself on that one side or even both the bar & block a little bit. That said keyway lifters is a thing these days ...

Re: Cooling tricks with iron headed hot rods?
Just remembered EQ says they improved cooling on their vortec heads vs GM, so it matters what heads and not just iron.

Re: Cooling tricks with iron headed hot rods?
Too bad your engine bay isn't the size of a dyno room  Didn't see the show, so can't comment if the heads were sim design/shape enough for a good test(don't care what they flowed). Brzezinski(cast heads) talks bout some Dart cast iron heads, having coolant flow issues in one of their vids if i...

Re: Head gasket failure - Fire rings crushed?
Do you have a new unused gasket to directly compare/measure to the blown gasket fire rings? I am no headgasket expert and there are obvious other problems but that is not what you asked about. Again not a gasket expert, don't know what material those fire rings are and if maybe they got real Hot and...

Re: Resonator placement
First off flowmasters the chamber type, have been track documented to loose ET. Still that said some prefer a sound or big wheels n such. I've always read the tips need to go past the body to help prevent drone, not sure how yours is. If you got room to add after why not move the muffler back and tr...

Re: Spindle Thread Repair
I seen a pic of where a gut cut one in half n welded the halves to some channel-locks
[edit] Also a lot of time, if you have more than enough thread, just grinding or cutting the end/tip off works

Re: Spindle Thread Repair
Thanks for posting this. At least once a year either some shop or owner goes to disassemble a rear spindle on a C2/C3 corvette and they go to hammering after removing the spindle nut. Then eventually the project finds its way to me. I have thread files and the dies but for $20 this set is worth ord...

Re: Extending intake dividers
I bought a mig welder with alum spool gun to do this mod on a intake after being quoted enough to buy the welder. Never did finish that intake tho but that welder came in real handy n saved me a ton. Kick myself for not buying one sooner but missed the mig part of my classes and seen too many friend...

Re: Extending intake dividers
I rem seeing an intake that someone made thick extensions(narrowed at weld edge) and then welded them, was a 4150 intake. Don't rem if it was a book or thread somewhere but i rem seeing the before and after. I don't see a problem if done right, would prob use thicker than 1/4 but still narrow the we...

Re: Are the factory refurbished Holley carbs worth getting?
Bought a HP mainbody last winter that had casting flaws, wasn't a reman so Holley sent a replacement. Also bought a proform and their quality is much better these days. I returned another many years ago due to poor quality. Just shows how things change over the years LOL

Re: Intake swap worth it on this?
For myself i do all type of small gain stuff but for a paying customer I wouldn't bother. Anything else at this point will just be minor stuff, sounds like he'd be happier with some valve covers n a air cleaner. It's a heavy truck, a few lbs or few hp isn't gonna impress. [edit] In fact this is the ...
