Re: Harold Brookshire lobes and intake centerline.

Hiya, This is a much bigger conversation than ICL. I have picked up 90hp at 7600rpm due to ICL, IGN timing and Fuel curve on a limited carb 4412 360cu in. Not 90hp peak, nor the average added up. This conversation isn't talking about reality when you don't know the lobes nor have a baseline of that :)

Re: Vr1 for breaking in a cam?

Hiya, Just my opinion, Use some good quality assembly lube on the cam, put a heavy dose of moly grease on the distributor gear of the cam and on the distributor gear so they break in well. I wouldn't be afraid of the VR-1 Racing especially since it's a stock grind with lazy lobes. Again, just my opi...

Re: Harold Brookshire lobes and intake centerline.

Shoot Brian, you are forgiving. I check my TDC lobe centerline @ .005" up/down max lobe lift, probably overkill  Max lobe lift is not the real centerline, a lot of times. Yes Walter, we are talking about asymmetrical lobes. But you need to start with one known good point and adjust from there...

Truly, for any of us that develop anything after 5252rpm...it;s about chasing torque where it changes the aftermath

Re: BBC rear main leak

Most of the LS/LT stuff says to install dry on the rubbing surface. Hopefully one of these guys/gals here can provide some insight. I always used to lube everything.

Re: What ll this make? Rammed 496 bbc

Yeah, props are a whole expensive world by themselves especially these days. I do understand why Merc charges $10-12k per prop. In the early 90's I was lucky enough to have a prop made by Harold Kinsvater(ME airplane prop dude). I don't know crapola about this boat stuff. One of the coolest things h...

Re: What ll this make? Rammed 496 bbc

100mph in that boat is way respectable. The bigger heads and intake will definitely help with more mph. Keep the old gears around, you might find it will respond better to a half inch or so bigger OD and a pitch change, think of it as a bigger tire with same gearing. As you know, marine is a whole d...

Re: What ll this make? Rammed 496 bbc

Something like this is always good in endurance marine to help with valve spring life..

I usually put a 40lb check valve on to help low rpm oil pressure.

Re: What ll this make? Rammed 496 bbc

Most people with that combo will make 740ish but I bet with your "rub" work on the heads and intake you should be in the 800 ballpark, might take 6800rpm though. Is this a jet or an I/O?

Tom, don't waste your time with the Fbird idiot. Forget about his post count, most have concluded he is an internet idiot re-poster who believes everything he reads. Fbird = self proclaimed whatever. He has a clue, but on average on what he has read and only minimally done.

Re: 268HP iron duke.

Chad, I can't see the details of the manifold. In my mind, that isn't what you wanted. I was soooooo pissed when I spec'd this engine and the fool that made the intake manifold I designed didn't do it even near my spec. He told the shop that he was "the guy". I looked at it and said to my customer, ...

Hiya Tom, I noticed you have been a member here for less than a year. There is a wealth of information on this site. Quite a few have quit sharing information. Of course runner length matters and whether wet flow or dry flow and wherever the wet flow is introduced. Bring apples to apples questions, ...
