Re: SBC SHP Block w/Jesel Belt drive

So go .150 or .200 deep and an inch wide, oh well, too late now. The cut looks much bigger than it is. I used a 1/2 at a 45º angle. Wanna see the valley? :) I have got so much flack on it, I'm scared to post it. lol Sure, that pic could be deceiving my eyes. Next time you have it off, shoot another...

Re: SBC SHP Block w/Jesel Belt drive

#-o Chad no,
Vertical up and down on the front face of the main cap about .100" deep. You might have lost all the integrity of that cap.

Re: SBC SHP Block w/Jesel Belt drive

Good job Chad, not just jesel's but also alum timing covers on the Dart blocks/large main cap offer no drainback, hence the groove needed in the cap.

p.s. check the corners of the cap for pan clearance too.

Re: SBC SHP Block w/Jesel Belt drive

I just looked in my phone and laptop. I don't have a picture. I want to say .500" end mill .100" deep vertical. I think I have a sb2 block at the shop already modified but I won't be back for a couple days. I will post a pic with measurements when I can. edit, I might have used a 1" wide bit, shoot,...

Re: SBC SHP Block w/Jesel Belt drive

Also groove the front main cap for oil drainback if the jesel cover is too close otherwise you WILL have a front seal leak. I'll see if I can find a picture.

Re: Burn patterns on piston and chamber

I assume this is an engine you built so I don't have to ask you about texture in the intake manifold or ports. The fuel is dropping out of suspension and you need less quench area. A lot of people thru the years have added fuel coolers #-o . Cold air, hot fuel is a key. And yes, I agree with others,...

Re: Cold valve lash settings - tighter or looser?

I have built some all aluminum big block Chevy engines where after setting lash hot, the engine wouldn't even start when cold because there was no lash at all. So, the hot lash had to be made a bit looser in order for the valves to even seal when cold. Plenty of times we had block and oil heaters t...

Re: How will you go faster?

Hiya, It took me a bit to find the chassis dyno results for this 350, I'll have to dig for more specifics. I was very sick back in 2016/2017 and induced coma's for days on each surgery, you never quite come back all the way. I am curious if I can find the numbers, if one of you guys would see if it ...

Re: Twisted wedge 170s on 302 ford question

Be careful when you’re listening to cam recommendations that are for the super long runners of the EFI 5.0L engine. EDC/Ed Curtis has probably done cams for more combos like you are talking about than anyone here. Been doing it for decades now. Everything from the twisted wedge heads on 302 engines...

Re: How will you go faster?

Here is a limited tire circle track car. We couldn't take advantage of more off the corner, so I had a cam made that gave it the same at exit and more after that. Of course it was much faster into the corner now. Chassis adjustments were made, walah, "how will you go faster?" was answered  ...

ChopperScott wrote: Tue Nov 29, 2022 6:54 pm With regards concerning calculations and measurement of runner length, area, or airflow, how does one account for the chaos in the plenum?
The reality... is you can't. Change firing order and it changes what happens in the plenum.

Re: Harold Brookshire lobes and intake centerline.

Hiya, This is a much bigger conversation than ICL. I have picked up 90hp at 7600rpm due to ICL, IGN timing and Fuel curve on a limited carb 4412 360cu in. Not 90hp peak, nor the average added up. This conversation isn't talking about reality when you don't know the lobes nor have a baseline of that :)
