Re: SCAT 9000 Limits

The boat motor I was talking about has a eq vortec head on it and hydraulic roller with a eps manifold as it has to sit under the sun deck of the boat and idle at 600 rpm to go into gear clean. It made 466ft/lbs at 3600rpm and 380hp at 5,200 rpm. Not huge horsepower but makes really good torque it m...

Re: SCAT 9000 Limits

We turn the scat 9000 3.48 stroke cranks 7400 rpm in 400hp imca stock car motors for at least 100 nights before we think about replacing them, i have yet to see one fail. One 408 cleveland i built made 715hp at 7,300 rpm with the pro comp rod and scat 9000 crank, never broke it. Was drag race engine...

Re: 302 Ford Blocks

Sounds like a fun project, mine has some pro topline heads on it that were ported to 210cc by livernois that I bought on closeout from them for like $1,000, and some comp cam that I believe its in the 250 degree duration range and low .600 lift on a 106 lsa. Its been over 10 years since i've seen th...

Re: 302 Ford Blocks

Ive got a mexican d1 i believe block with a stock 2m crank, cheapest eagle rod I could find and KB116 hyer pistons in it that have a .200 SOLID dome, like throwing 8 sledge hammers around. chipped at 8,000 rpm makes 490 @7600 cant seem to break it so far. Been together since 2009. If i start it, it'...

Re: 302 Block oiling

I have a pump gas 302 that makes 490hp at 7600 that I street drive, it has been together for 10 years and if i start it, I'm gonna find the 8,000rpm limiter every time. I didn't do anything special with the oil system other than a melling hv pump and a deep sump pan. It makes 65psi of oil pressure h...

Also if u unplug both upstream sensors do the readings match? Maybe you have a broken wire in the harness between the pcm and the connector

Re: Pure stock main clearance

Ya that will work perfect, built quite a few hobby, street stock motors and they pretty much all end up about there, I've even sent them with over .004 on the rear and they come back looking perfect, and if you think oil temp only gets to 250 u should put a gauge in it, you would be alarmed, the 20w...

Re: Trouble with my 1999 C2500 Suburban again...P0174 code

Most likely is the bank 2 pre cat oxygen sensor failed and stuck lean so the ecm is compensating trying to get the fuel trims back in order as you can see by the LT fuel trim at 25%, thats the max it will go, it kicks the lean code at approx 22.5% So whats actually happening is the engine is so rich...

Re: P0340 code on my 1999 C2500 Suburban

If this is a 5.7 which i suspect it is, the distributor is in fact adjustable but it is a very small range, you have to use a scan tool and set the distributor, which i believe the scan tool will show as cam retard, to 0 degrees within 2 degrees either way. A lot of times what happens is the distrib...

Re: Thoughts on 1.0/1.0/2.0 mm ring package, pure street 60s engine

We run them in some dirt track stuff work really good, zero oil consumption issues in 35 nights, run it 8 nights between oil changes with no lose of oil. But on a refresh at 18 nights it started to use oil pretty bad, found the owner had got the air filter on wrong and stucked some dirt in, that was...

Re: What set of SBC 6.0 rods has the best cam clearance for 383

another vote for the scat pro 7/16 rod, had them in a 715hp 408 Cleveland and never broke them shifting at 7,600 rpm. They will be fine, also used a set in a 383 for a boat with a standard base circle hydraulic roller cam, no issues clearing the cam. That motor made 370hp/460 ft/lbs and spends hours...

Re: Air filters on a dirt track car???

Anyone run the wix racing 46946r they told me that one only flows 73 cfm and is made for dirt track racing, maybe try that and an outerwears? I don’t care if it kills some power because if the motor chews up rings in 15 nights it’s down on power for half of that anyway, the motor will run lots longe...

We used to run just an oiled k&n and that motor lasted years but there was always some signs of dirt in the carb then to.

Re: Air filters on a dirt track car???

Yes I’ve been using some grease gun grease on the top and bottom of the filter and we use a rubber from underneath a coil on an HEI on top of the air cleaner lid over the stud with a 1/4” washer on that to make sure it crushes down good and we have an adapter that goes on the air cleaner base and us...

Air filters on a dirt track car???

What filter do you guys recommend for a dirt track car that gets raced on dry tracked. I had a motor I built fresh this winter and it got 18 nights on it and started using oil when I took it apart I found about .0015 bore wear and the rings had opened up to .100 gap and the tops and bottoms of the r...
