Re: Sunoco EXO2 Fuel

I’ve found reliably and somewhat frustrating that VP Q-16 makes 10 hp more in most any engine.

Re: 70’s-80’s era low rise single plane intakes

I too looked down upon the Torquer intake but this year we built a mild 383 chev for a Corvette (70’s) and the customer already owed a Torquer, and better yet it fits under the factory hood. Although the actual numbers escape my memory, I recall being quite impressed at the outcome. Of course this w...

Re: 360 SBC Build?

Sell the cool 327 and the 360 short, eliminates the decision process.

Re: 360 SBC Build?

My first performance build was a 327, and with 4.88 gears it’s best pass was a 12.7 in my Camaro. I then built a 406 with slightly less compression and with 3.42 gears, everything else the same as the 327, the first time out it ran a 12 teen and that first year ran deep into the 11’s. I wonder if I ...

Re: Induction and Ignition systems

Search out Richard Holdner on YouTube, he likely has the build you’re looking for.

Re: 360 SBC Build?

If a 406 is an option don’t waste your time with a minor displacement increase, in the end you will be building the 406 anyways.

Re: piston install

.0055 to .006 mild nos 200 shot 200 shot and mild don’t really belong in the same sentence. If .006 is in reference to piston to wall clearance you will eventually find piston skirt cracks leading from the oil return slots, they are designed for a MUCH tighter fit. Also, I hope you’ve decked that b...

Re: SBC oil pan gasket help

I’ve never seen the late 350 block with double stick hole but I have seen a couple of the early blocks, obviously easier to deal with by purchasing both cork pan sets.

Have you checked with your GM dealer?

Re: Ignition advance at cruise rpm?

I just don’t see how you could blanket determine if a combo needs “x” then a half point lower needs “y”. Assuming optimized air fuel ratio, complete combustion is complete combustion. I don’t see a degree or two making a difference in a cruise condition. Maybe I’m out to lunch. #-o I am not looking...

Re: SBC oil pan gasket help

The dual dipstick makes me think Targetmaster.

I know Fel Pro has a performance 1 piece pan gasket for the pre86 blocks, perhaps they have for your block too. What about the standard gasket for a roller block and plugging the drivers dipstick hole?

Re: Sbc 350 grind number identification

Have you considered sliding it back in the engine and degreeing it? If it’s ancient it may have been reground at some point, with different specifications. I suppose you could ship it to your chosen cam manufacturer and have them cam Dr. It and match their lobes to it.

If the valve reliefs don’t line up you’ll be a sad camper!

Irrelevant if the piston has no offset.

Re: Ignition advance at cruise rpm?

IMHO those are both relatively low compression ratios, and I believe it would be application specific more so than an absolute based solely on static compression.

Re: Old Crane 266/210 hy-cam.

Thanks guys for putting up with me! Now, about the old, "Performer", hy-cam 278/204/288/214, 112/107, .420"/.442"..... How does it do in these very mild engines I have been asking about? And I know that it basically is just step up from the great old stock, -929 cam. pdq67 The turd of all cams in a...
