Re: Offset Grinding 351w Issues

Ahh the good old days. I recall seeing a Windsor come in where a local shop had modified a 400 M crankshaft to fit. Counterweights heavily cut, 4 to 6 slugs of mallory per end, plus custom external balancing. I applaud you for trying to reinvent, but keep in mind this is a cast crankshaft with very ...

If the head doesn’t seat with hand force or light rubber mallet any person with a brain would stop.

Re: Budget Parkerizing flat tappet cams at shop

Wow I would have thought it would be impossible to fail a cam in a 153/181, but then I’m convinced many of the jobber cams and lifters are just garbage now.

Sorry for your loss.

Re: PCV vs EVAC

What’s stopping you from installing a high volume mechanical fuel pump and plumbing the inlet side to a valve cover and the outlet to a catch can? (Engine otherwise sealed from atmospheric) Is there a rule against it?

A 200 RPM gain in a boat with just a head swap is pretty massive.

I would be shocked if the supplied springs aren’t up to the task providing you have sufficient room to bind.

Call ARP directly, someone there will have the answer. Great company to deal with.

Googled it and saw that they use that method to repair big cranks in tanker engines so must not be that bad?
If it’s done correctly it’ll be fine.

Re: Chevy 383 stroker build

Rev, I just got these pistons, I will be at 11.1:1 with my TFS double hump heads on my 880 roller block,6 " rods and Scat 3.75" crank. They do a 16cc dish with my setup would give you 10.3:1 1.5, 1.5, 3mm ring pack there is no oil ring spacer and with the short skirt won't hang out of bottom bore. ...

Re: HV oil pump/too much oil on top Q

Hi Guys, I'm evaluating a couple of things on an engine of mine which always had oil consumption. I'm going to at least get the heads done as I believe the valve guides are too loose (which is odd as these heads were all new Dart pro 1 aluminum 215 heads which came assembled from the factory and th...

Re: taking hp away from 540

Smart choice, the “large solid roller cam” is not a high mileage part, no sense in wearing out this expensive engine while the new driver has his training wheels on.

Easy fix, Holley Sniper EFI, set the limiter to 3500 and disconnect the controller.

More than likely the kid will want a EV or bus pass.

Re: PCV and brake booster solution

Just installed a Weiand 144 on a 383. It’s working out great so far. Only pushing about 3-4 psi which is right where I want to be. It’s honestly made a huge difference in power. I’m running an AED 850 “blower” carb. It’s great but only has two vacuum ports. One large 3/8 fitting in the back for the...
