Re: HEI pulling timing. Any solutions?
What I've done for the last 35 years or so is to remove the Chevy module and mount a blue grommet Duraspark on the firewall near the distributor and wire it up. The DS module was something like $15.95 from mighty auto parts and worked every time and never had one fail as far as I know. I only did it...

Re: Question about the value of a complete 427/425
The guy apparently sold the 427. He still has a complete 396/375 for sale. Here's a link, it's on Marketplace https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/755626072665239/?ref=marketplace_profile&referral_code=undefined Mods, I hope it's ok to post this link. If not either let me know or just delet...

Widening aluminum wheels
Was wondering if any of you guys have done this on wheels you raced with. When I had my shop I welded many a steel wheel and widened a few. I wouldn't do aluminum wheels because I felt like it was a liability problem. Now I've got wheels that don't come in anything wider that 10" and I really w...

Re: My engine has sat for four years I have a question
Hmm. If the bearing material is imprinting the race material with a few hundred pounds of force there is something seriously wrong with the metallurgy. If this imprinting failure is real, how in the world do these needle bearings not instantly destroy themselves when they are exposed to thousands o...

Re: My engine has sat for four years I have a question
A few things about it. It's in a controlled environment with a dehumidifier that is on year round and all the openings are capped so I'm reasonably sure it's not damaged from moisture or rodents. The lifters in it are brand new as are the springs. I'm definitely replacing the springs, no way I'm usi...

My engine has sat for four years I have a question
582 BBC basically a race engine with lower compression. My question is about the valvetrain being loaded all this time. Do you think this will have any effect on the lifters? Over my life as a mechanic I've seen plenty of instances of roller bearings printing on the races. You know leaving a definit...

Re: Reusing old braided fuel lines
Thanks. I'm going to show this thread to the guy that bought my car. He seems dead set on re-using the old fuel lines. I told him that you can't really tell what's going on up in the line and just because they look good at the ends doesn't mean they're good all the way through.

Reusing old braided fuel lines
Can I reuse the. Braided fuel hose on my old pro street car. Probably a dumb question I know. I put the lines on it in 1991 when it had a nitrous 427 in it. Now it going to be a relatively stock 302 with a low pressure fuel pump. What do you think? Thanks

Best valve spring for big roller on the street
I'm sure this has been asked a thousand times but the search kind of brought too much info. My engine is a 582 bbc with dart 355s on it. The current springs are k-motion K1000H set up at 275 seat and they work good as far as how the engine runs but I've had some of them break the inner springs and c...

Aerokroil works good for this also.
