Re: Long post...What is needed to get this junk into the mid 12’s?

My good friends '63 Nova wagon runs 12.50's at 106mph with the following: 200,000 mile 350 out of a 1998 Suburban, GM Hot cam, Air Gap intake, Quick Fuel 750 Slayer, 1 1/2 headers, new valve springs and retainers for clearance, new timing chain. Re-used everything else from the engine. Powerglide wi...

Re: Nascar sbc heads of the 70s and 80s?

We had a set of iron Bowtie heads that came from Raymond Beadle's race shop when they auctioned off everything many moons ago. Ran pretty decent on a 12-1 406 with a 264-274 solid flat tappet. 10.70's at 124mph in a 3600lb + '62 Chevy.

Re: Is anyone still using clay to verify P/V clearance?

One time I used a Tootsie Roll to check radial and depth when my niece "borrowed" my clay!

Re: Wet sump external oil pump

That's what I figured. A friend had a 598 on the dyno and was concerned that it was showing less than one inch of vacuum. Thanks!

Wet sump external oil pump

How many inches of vacuum would you expect to see on a bbc with a full length pan? Would higher oil pressure affect the vacuum, if any?

A friend of mine ran GT/MA with a 350/ 2bbl combo. Record holder a few times that ran 10.50's at 123mph. A little over 500hp.

Still leading points with two races to go, knock on wood! Good luck pulling and I'll keep my eyes peeled for the Nova at the track.

Thanks for keeping us updated on this adventure! Looks like you two are having too much fun to come do a little drag racing with us. I guess you could bring Tommy Boy to a bracket race! :D

Re: Scat SBC rods

That's cool, ProPower! ARP 2000 bolt? I have a set of the Scat SBC rods and a few of the big ends needed resized but no other issues. I've been thinking of trying the Scat I-beam in my 548 instead of replacing the rod bolts in the existing Eagle rods.

Rebuilding bushed roller lifters

How many runs should you put on a set of bushed lifters before getting them rebuilt? Drag racing, by the way!
