Re: exhaust valve failure analysis

My first thought is to blame the cam. Maybe it wasn't ground right. How do the pushrods look? Look for shinny spots on the pushrods where they could be binding on the head. Look for anything else that looks strange from the rocker arms to the retainers/locks. When you have everything together, spend...

Re: Senate Bill on Racing

So does that mean under current 2015 EPA Regulations that the "EPA Police" can go to any race track in America and tow all the race cars that use to be legal street cars???

Re: Valve train control loss question

I'd take a look at the pushrods to see if there's any strange wear patterns on any of them. Maybe they are rubbing against the intake port or valve cover. Could also be an ignition issue or electrical issue. Maybe sparkplug wires are old. Maybe rotor phasing is off. Maybe run ground wires instead of...

Re: Under performing 357 sbc

When people talk about engine falling off, the first thing I think of is valve springs. I'd also check the ignition system and electrical system. I find using ground wires instead of chassis grounds also helps the electrical system. Another area to check would be your fuel system. Make sure your fue...

Re: CNC Heads?

Everybody talks about CNC heads, what usually I ask is, who did the original porting you are coping, or did you just tell the computer program to make them a certain percent larger? Just wondering why don't the sellers of CNC porting advertise who did the work the program is copying? Seems they mig...

Is the Piston hitting the valves? Check Piston for valve marks.

Re: High ratio Jesel etc rockers-1.9 to 2.0-on a SB Chev 23 degree head

Joe, Jesel guy said a while back they 'may' be able to. Am really looking for someone who has actually done it and what was involved to get the geometry correct... Arthur, I would only use T&D or Jesel, not an engine shop as they don't build their own Jesels or T&D's. I doing this deal for a buddy ...

Have you called Jesel to see if they can even make them?

Re: another blown up jetboat motor sbc

Doesn't look too lean to me. Maybe the problem is with the springs/retainers/locks. Check to see if they fit right. Make sure you have the right springs with the right pressures. Check pushrod clearance issues. Look to see if there are marks on the pushrods where they may have been rubbing on someth...

This sounds like the same Chicago company that bought out part of Edelbrock, but I don't see it in their portfolio.

Re: 2020 Supra B58 Engine Teardown - First Look - Better than the 2JZ?

This engine seems to be needlessly complicated. For example, why not just use a typical screw on oil filter? Why reinvent how the front damper attached to the crank? Timing chain in the back sounds like a bad idea when something breaks. Seems like a bunch of engineers decided to do everything differ...
