Re: Cam selection for Smokey Ram Intake, 292 heads

Some extra cubic inches (383) would help make up for any loss of power due to lower compression and make it a little easier to live with on the street.

Re: Question - Improved Camber Curve

Might be able to shift position of lower ball joints forward a bit to gain a couple degrees more positive caster whilst doing this. Might use upper ball joints having longer studs to induce negative camber gain in turns. Still thinking about that. When doing mods to mount later year lower ball join...

But it would be easier for me to remember, if there was any logical reason or interesting story behind it.
What do you think?
Maybe Henry was dyslexic.

Re: Question - Improved Camber Curve

Now the fun begins. What combination of disc dia, tire dia, puck dia (and number of), master cylinder dia, and pad friction coefficient, will produce the best braking for a specific vehicle? Forgot to mention tire grip and vehicle weight transfer as affecting brake balance. I have seen the mathemat...

Re: LS engines on the dyno

If I were having a LS engine dyno tuned I would at least want it to run on it's own before I spent any money for dyno time. It's my opinion if you're not tuning it with the computer that will be used in the car then you are wasting time and money. Once the harness is on the engine and plugged into t...

When I saw the torque curve for some of their engine packages I started giggling like a little school girl.
Good luck getting something like that to hook up on the street.

Re: Combination or Conversion Uni - Any good or flawed?

I am using one in my '71 Nova. 1330 to 1310 (I think I got that right).
I have only put about 500 miles on it but have done so without any problems.
That also includes the occasional bit of Tom Foolery.

Re: Motor for an Ultima

By 2005 The Merc F1 V10 was a 90* and, not a coincidence, pretty 'meh'. The previous 72* version though... 90* V4 can sound amazing. And then at the opposite extreme there's the Subaru flat 4s and their "oops a plug wire fell off haha" sound makes me want to hurt someone. We agree on the ...

Re: Question - Improved Camber Curve

If the upper control arms are close to level at ride height then the spacers will increase you camber gain. You could also use extended upper ball joints. Increasing you caster will also help, but is sometimes difficult to get any significant gains on these older cars. There is the "Guldstrand&...

Re: Cross Ram intakes.

I have one of these, I rebuilt it probably 20yrs ago, welded up stripped and cracked bolt and pipe threads, but still haven't put it to use. http://victorylibrary.com/graphics/SY1.JPG I want to build a new top for it and mount four 48mm IDF carbs and use it on the street for fun. I've been trying t...

Re: Looking for info on this intake SBC 377 Vortec Mercruiser tunnel ram

The one I have is identical to the e-bay listing. I haven't really given much thought about using it. The one thing I would do is cut off that Snuffleupagus snout and weld on an adapter plate for a LS style throttle body. Probably use a Holley injection controller rather than the Merc Marine compute...

Looking for info on this intake SBC 377 Vortec Mercruiser tunnel ram. Anybody out their use one of these intakes? I'm looking for one cheap. Gonna try one on a low budget 400 build. This is a two-piece intake. The picture below is just the bottom. I would like to buy just the bottom if possible. ht...

Re: alusil piston in sleeved block

I don't know how this may relate to your situation, but my Vega 2.3 has a full set of sleeves that were sized to the original pistons. What material the sleeves are made of, I don't know. It doesn't burn oil and there is no excessive blow-by. It works well. I'm pretty sure it can do a one minute qua...
