Re: Gliddens heads!

I think that the picture the guy in the video is focusing in on is cool, as I don’t think many people have Seen the examples like that. Like that!-interesting sports/engine history I do feeL like it was kind of known What he was doing- my old man (A fan, Who worked for a pharmaceutical company) told...

Well ok, just saw this. I feel many folk can use a bit more reflection on "back pressure".
I think most of us here enjoy your posts when you put topics out for reflective work Calvin!

Re: Header Tube and Collector Specs "Trends"

What about with wide variances in tube length due to fitment issues? On my driver side header, the shortest tube is 26" and longest is 40". Many times I have read by different people that the primaries being different lengths will Broaden the power band by tuning different cylinders to di...

Re: Header Tube and Collector Specs "Trends"

Larry M - thank you! for all of the pics and details! It sounds like I need to get pipemax (Needed to 8-10 years ago haha) when you get your new update done. Here is another question about the “trends” — do try- y’s need the primary and secondaries together to be as long as 4 into one primaries? I’v...

Re: Header Tube and Collector Specs "Trends"

This questions is aimed more at Larry M- Do the “header tube and collector trends” for a two barrel engine just follow similar to having low compression? Is it more complicated than that ——?? I have been thinking for quite awhile that one area to make a fair gain on these 4412 type circle track engi...

Re: Stock Eliminator secrets?

My guess is they are trying to reference fuel pressure for that carb that looks like a ...(q-jet maybe) to engine rpm somehow. I read in the past where people would find a lot of hp running the pressure higher under WOT so the single inlet could keep up. The would reference the fuel regulator to vac...

Re: 351W Cam in 289

That is a stock ford 351w cam used in a number of applications, most commonly found in later FI 351w’s and in crown vics and such. The numbers are misleading as those are SAE numbers. Off the top of my head the .006” numbers are 256 intake duration, 270 exhaust. It’s actually not a terrible grind f...

Re: 351W Cam in 289

For the OP- in case nobody let you know- it will fit in the 289 and it will work fine - ——-the firing order is different. —— If it was me I would install it on a 107 or 108 intake centerline (7 or 8 advance) as measured with a degree wheel. By base you means “stock” or “factory” so— Is the cam new o...

Re: Rear gears

Is the best contact patch the best for power as well as quiet, different contact at the inside/bottom/root of the ring and any cryo snake oil testimony? I was wondering kind of the same thing. I have abused and broke a few 8.8 gears sets my self in my 85’ carbed gt (yes I installed a Motorsports ho...

Re: Solid cam..

I am not trying to start a contest- and you guys are not wrong exactly, but responses like these are kind of short sighted-- Lift does not make a cam streetable. Valve opening, closing and other events make that happen. If you want a car with good street manners than always put it on a 114°LCA. You ...

Re: Dome pistons with 76cc OEM sbc heads?

The 487’s could have either 1.94/1.50 or 2.02/1.60 valves. I’ve got a pair of 487x heads that I ported 25+ years ago. I need to run them across a flow bench and see if they are worth rebuilding. I’ve also got some early 882’s, 441’s, and maybe a set of 993’s. 624’s and later 882’s go directly into ...

Re: Dome pistons with 76cc OEM sbc heads?

Here is a related question- I am contemplating a build for my niece for a ump “factory stock” class car. Thea are a 3200 lb car and the engine is is limited to 358” and open chamber heads / no porting/ flat top pistons/ iron 2bbl intake/ pen 2bbl like rochester/ Hydraulic Flat Tappet cam. You can us...

Re: Solid cam..

If it were me and not having maintenance all the time keepin me from having fun - I would only use a .550” lift before lash is subtracted (gross) on a solid flat tappet. You can go much more but the fun factor is reduced by maintainence and springs that don’t last and cost lots of money.
