Re: Big Buck Oil,Who needs it???

"Race car you might not notice anything is wrong until you see your oil is going a little glittery."

or better yet when the oil falls out.

I run "big buck oil" in my lawnmower.

You're not by chance using gas in a carb that was purpose built for methanol?

Re: Block cleaning

Don't let the purple sit on your machined surfaces over night. Something in the mix reacts with it and will discolor and etch the fresh iron surface. I have a 30 percent solution in a vat and have nearly ruined fresh cylinder bores by letting them sit over night. Whatever it is, it settles to the b...

Re: Methods to clean the water jacket

If you're not in a big hurry you could try the molasses and water method. Do a web search on molasses rust removal for the details. I have never tried it but plan to some day. From what I have read it's effective and much safer than acid.

Re: Less HP For NASCAR "CUP" Engines Next Year!

So does anyone know when stock car (NASCAR) racing became non-stock car racing? In other words in what year did "they" remove the last stock piece? I'm guessing around the time IROC ceased. NASCAR has done a very good job of filling the IROC void.

I have plans to do a 68' camper special in a few years. The truck has been in the family since new and is very solid. If you have any plans of chronicling your brothers project please post it somewhere.

Re: Methanol good or bad?

I'm guessing you're only concerned from a performance standpoint. In the circle track world, with rules on top rules varying by track, fuel SG is sometimes something they check with a rule stating something like SG must be within 10% of the track's standard fuel sample. I actually know of a driver t...

The mounting of the pump will be a chore givin the Willys has no flippen room in the front and has the alternator mounted with a serpentine belt. I guess it will be Gilmore on bot...

Re: oil pressure gremlin

Had a similar problem with a SBC using the older Barnes internal dry sump pump. The top of pump was actually making contact with a main stud, there was just a slight witness mark on the pump. The hotter and thinner the oil got the more the PSI dropped. A few thoudsands off the stud fixed the problem.
