Re: Discussion about E85
M1 makes more power M1 is corrosive as hell and a thing to have to deal with. It's cheap E85 makes great power and doesn't really detonate. E85 is easy on parts E85 is cheap and when bought at the pump in barrels consistency isn't a problem. It's also easy to get a low percent up to a high percent f...

Re: E85 Advice
I call BS on the video. I have no idea what you guys are doing wrong, I've been on E85 for 5 years and NO ISSUES at all. zip, zero, zilch. It seems there is a variety of things people complain about BUT if it were that big of an issue the OE's wouldn't be building around it. From dyno testing, pump ...

Re: Mystery sludge
Thanks everyone. I don't know what it it either. Since the bearings look good enough and the oil analysis looks okay and the oil comes out the same color is goes in, Lash has never changed leakdowns are still acceptable. I'm going to run it and monitor closely. I only get about 10-12 nights a year t...

Re: Mystery sludge
E85 does not do this. My carb guy has too many customers NOT having this issue nor have I in the past 5 years. The lab results don't indicate fuel contamination. This oil is designed for all alcohol fuels per Schaeffers.

Mystery sludge
SBC, 406ci, 13:1 on E85, Dirt track engine, 1200 laps. Shaeffers 5-50 oil every 10 nights. Anyone here smarter than me? After the oil change interval results cam back every was really good except for a note of "high insoluables". I assumed race track dirt, It kept me up at night so I remov...

Re: Oil testing
I called my local CAT dealer. They call it a SOS kit, $25, pick up and drop off local, 2-3 weeks and results are emailed back.

Oil testing
Other than Blackstone, are there better ones? Just looking for general oil condition so I can change my drain intervals to suit and keep an eye on things. Blackstone is great but they compare to a "national average" and I prefer to compare to new oil in my diesel and my race engines. Both ...

Re: Cranking compression results are in
Cranking compression.... What happens if my starter only cranks the engine 125 rpm? What about if it's a super fast starter and cranks at 250rpm? What if I installed a custom starter at 48v and can crank it at at 700rpm? What RPM would I use to build it? NONE Cranking speeds and DCR has never made s...

Re: SCAT 9000 Limits
Not really asking anything specific as a just a testament to the SCAT 9000 crank because SO many people talk trash about them. I believe they have their place and time and budgets and do well. No, they aren't a Bryant, Callies, etc.....They are aren't trying to be either. I replaced the two rods and...

Re: KB hypereutectic pistons
I have used them lots of times and have had no piston related issues. I will add that they are brittle, and don't melt but shatter and when that happens the small end of the rod let go and breaks lots of other things too unlike a forged piston that will usually melt but still control the small end o...

Re: Sbc solid roller lifters
1) I think you going to spend more time and money looking for .003 lifters and honing to suit then paying a shop to bush and index the block. Your gonna be there all day taking out .003 and it still won't be straight or indexed to the cam center line. 2) Bore gauges are great, but they don't measure...

Re: Need info about solid lift flat tappet cam.sbc
Lash should will change only with wear, bent or broken parts. It's never a bad idea to check them often looking to catch a problem before it gets super expensive. That said, actually needing to make an adjustment is a clear indicator something is wearing or bending and needs attention. I personally ...

Re: Factory sbc enlarging oil holes.
I personally feel like it's more important to get the oil back to the pan through the front and rear than it is opening passages beyond basic deburring.

Re: Assembly on engine stand distortion
Seems like 70 degree room temp too 220 degree block temp make way more a difference than silly engine stands.
