Master cylinder bore size question
Hello, I have a 69 Chevelle with the stock power disc/drum system. Stock uses an 1-1/8 bore master cylinder, I had a brand new Wilwood master cylinder given to me but has a 1inch bore. What kind of difference in pedal feel do you think the smaller bore would make if I were to go with the Wilwood mas...

Re: Would these heads support a 540 bbc?
The car is a 69 Chevelle with full interior. I've never weighed it but should be 3500-3600, 3:42 gears, th400, 3400 convertor. It's mainly a street car. My options are to freshen up the 489 thats in it or go with a 540 short block. The 489 is estimated to be 650 to 670hp but I'd like to get more unl...

Re: Would these heads support a 540 bbc?
Thanks for the responses! The combination wouldn't be anything fancy, 10.5cr, custom ground cam, Morel 4603 lifters, Victor jr and a proper sized 4150

Re: Would these heads support a 540 bbc?
Thanks for the responses! My plan was to use these heads for now and have a cam ground to work with them and down the road when I have the funds to switch to a better head

Would these heads support a 540 bbc?
I have a set of GMPP oval ports that have had some port work done and was wondering if they could make any decent power on a hyd roller pump gas 540. I know that they are pretty small for a 540 but they are what I have available at this time. The flow numbers are .300-225in/170ex .400-283/179 .500-3...

Re: Big block Mopar Hughes hft cam preload adjustment questi
No, nothing about using a dial gauge, I assume they want you to count the turns. The 090-095 is what their instructions say to use for an iron block with alum heads.

Big block Mopar Hughes hft cam preload adjustment question
I'm putting a hyd flat tappet Hughes cam in a 383 Chrysler for someone and I've never seen one adjusted the way that their instructions say. Put the lifter on the base circle, put a .090-.095 feeler gauge between rocker and valve tip, adjust to zero lash, remove gauge and note how far you must conti...

Big block Chrysler oil pickup tube question
I'm a Chevy guy and am trying to help out a friend. How tight does the oil pickup tube need to be on these engines and do you use a sealer of some type on the threads? It's a Milodon tube and I can get it fairly tight with the screen level but to bring it one more turn I'm afraid it could possibly c...

Mopar 383/440 rear main seal question
Working on a 383 for a guy. I have a new billet rear main seal retainer. What have you had the best luck with sealing up the rear main, mainly the side seals on the retainer. Some people use the inserts and some use silicon only. What works for the best? Thanks!

Can you put new pistons in a slightly used bore?
Customers engine is a 383 Chrysler and has less than 1000 miles, probably closer to 500. You can clearly see the crosshatch marks in the bores. He bought new KB hyper pistons to replace the cast pistons and to also raise the comp to 10.1. The dealer he bought the pistons from said it would be fine t...

question about cleaning engine block
I have a 383 Chrysler block that needs cleaned but it has new cam bearings in it. Will it hurt the bearings if I clean it in a hot pressure washer cabinet? Thanks!
