Re: 5 hp briggs

a 5 hp briggs? Flathead? if you are not going total open motor, you do not need to "port" much. The ports are on the large side to begin with. If this is a warmed up stock, then the most gain is had in the intake side. As you look into the port, the upper left where the wall meets the roof...

Re: Selecting Proper PCV Valve?

I have seen that system in many racing applications. I have seen it in drag stuff and circle track. The trick is to find the right spot in your collectors to have the best signal. Maybe the header manufacture could help in that area.

Re: Selecting Proper PCV Valve?

It is common in many auto circles to run a "catch can" between the PCV and the intake. The basic premise is the polluted stream enters in the lower portion and the exit is higher up the "can" (or bottle). It relies on gravity to separate the heavier oil from the air stream. Basic...

Follow the money! NHRA wanted the "chopper" money. Do you think it is a coincidence that NHRA rewrote the rules to give the Vtwins help at the same time that "American Chopper" and "Jesse James" and "biker build off" was the top watched shows? NHRA wanted the ...

I am a little curious. Are your referring to twin 125s (250cc combined) or twin 250s (500cc combined)? The the power quoted for each engine or combined? What rpm do these turn? And who built these engines? David The 250cc twins are two 125cc cylinders in a single engine package with a 6 speed gear ...

Power is not maxed, but the chrome rings last longer in an oil poor environment that is encountered in a two stroke FWIW: Most of the racing two strokes I am familiar with haven't used chrome rings in years. Most (serious) two strokes (that I know of)use TI-Ni coating. Also, as far as "max pow...

G10 phenolic. But, read the MSDS - it says something about the dust being carcinogen. Waterjet cutting is best or CNC mill is good with alot of vacuum. I think it gives off a fume too - I have had things around the mill rust after milling .

how old is your welder? what model? I remember the syncro wave and - I think- the dial arc hf had spark gap hf generators. If yours does, take the points out and clean & repoint them and reset the gap to minumum. Maybe a tin can shield around the gap wouldn't hurt either. After reading your desc...

just a note about "torque plates" and honing- after you install any / all torque plates, the "distortion" does note occur instantly. Allow a couple of hours for the material to swell. I try to set up my blocks at the end of the day and do the honing the next day. It doesn't hurt ...
