Re: Anyone here happen to have a 455 Olds rod handy ?
I came up with .437 (center to center). I zeroed the caliper on the edge of the tang to the rod. Then measured to the other tang on the far edge.

Re: Narrowing rods?
I was curious what are the rules and guidelines for narrowing rods? I've narrowed the big end in my flywheel grinder. I have a small chuck that I use to grind Subaru buckets that I use to hold them. Then I use a valve seat grinder to chamfer the edges. (put the stone in the dresser and lift the rod...

FE Ford lifter bank angle?
I'm looking for the lifter bank angle for a 390/427 Ford. I have it in my guide & seat machine now. I made an adapter for my guide level and it seems to be level to the deck. Just looking for confirmation...

Re: Radius contact valve seats
I used a radius on the EX seat for dirt track engines. After cutting the seat I would take a stone and hand lap the seat to prove it's concentric. There would only be a thin ring where the marker was wiped off. No abnormal wear on the valve or seat. SS valves, 150# springs, flat tappet, iron head no...

Tire growth @150.
Putting a Ford 9 inch in my fathers 1967 Chevelle this winter. I need to pick a gear. I have data with different tires but this new tire I don't. We have Quick Time Pro D.O.T., LT 31 x 18.5-15. Looking to find out how much they grow at 150 MPH. This is a stick car so the numbers usually add up.

I would think it would hurt your 60'. I would go with the old cam and 1.70 EX rockers.

Comp cam ID
I have a Comp Cam with the numbers 1644B 4053B R 114 on the back. I looked up the lobe profiles and the second number, exhaust (minus the "B") matched up with a .460 lobe. I measured it and it was the same. The first number doesn't seem to show up. The lobe measured .473 give or take. I se...

Re: Will this shaft rocker mod work?
As long as you have a 360° shim to prevent galling of the rocker from side load, I see no issue. I don't think the roller going over the snap ring groove would matter. I bet they won't anyway.

Re: Let's Discuss Pushrods
Engine: sbc AFR 220 heads shaft rockers .080 wall 5/16 pushrods. Roller cam 20 PSI boost. The pushrods wore the black off as if it had guide plates. There was visible side clearance for both intake and exhaust. It was eye opening that there was that much distortion. Everything got upgraded to 3/8. N...

Re: Engine lift plate
I made an engine sling that can bolt to four of the exhaust bolt holes I made one for my engine with a sheet metal intake. I call it the coat hanger. Picture a giant coat hanger with chains on the ends. I think I'll tell the customer to avoid the lift plate on this particular engine. PS. I love the...

Engine lift plate
O.K. I'm building a BBC. The intake opening was poorly centered with the bolts. The plan was to correct the location of the bolts with heli-coils. When I was done however, I bored all four out to .500 and welded solid aluminum slugs in the holes. Then taped them out. It came out great. You would nev...

Re:
on a carbureted sheet metal intake a good rule of thumb is to make plenum volume the same displacement as your engine.... if its 358ci then 358ci of plenum volume I'm digging this out of the archives. My question is when calculating the plenum volume, are you only measuring the box, or are you incl...
