Re: Intake for turbo 5.3
[quote="tt 383"]It's not impossible to use a dual plane intake... I would use the Holley if I were in your shoes though or Super Vic and would try to find 243/799 from a newer 5.3. Search ls1tech for any of the intakes they show up frequently at reduced cost;) https://www.theturboforums.co...

Re: Intake for turbo 5.3
Ok. Thnx.
So which of the 4 single plane intakes that i mentioned above would you recommend. The holley is the smallest of the single planes. Super victor is the biggest of them. Traditional thinking has me heading toward holley because its a 2500-7000 rpm range i believe. And my cam is small.

Re: Valve lap on boosted high mileage 5.3?
So as i understand 20% leak rate is still considered good. That you shouldn't be worried unless it starts going north of 30%. Im going by the store tonight to pick up a cylinder leak down tester. I still might pull the heads and rebuild them though.

Valve lap on boosted high mileage 5.3?
I was installing a set of pac 1218 springs on my 5.3 yesterday getting ready to install a turbo and i noticed a slight amount of air coming out the intake and exhaust ports. Since all high mileage engines valves and rings start to leak as they wear out does others still boost them. Ive havent heard ...

Re: most power out of sbc with world sportsman II heads?
Im sure their is others on here who have made more hp but i had a set of unported sportsman 2 heads with 2.02/1.6 valves on a 383 in a 65 malibu at about 3300 lbs. Went low 11's at 119 mph. It was a street car.

Re: Chassis Dyno ques
I built a 10.5 to 1 comp. 406ci. with track 1 heads for a friend's street car. It made 476 hp at the rear wheels on a chassis dyno. At 3425 lbs. it went 11.09 at 123 mph first weekend out at track. I thought that was close to what it should run. Maybe off a few tenths. After reading some of these po...

Re: Basic Induction Tuning, round two
"No because it takes an equal and opposite drop in pressure to get the column of air moving to cause the ramming" Did that not occur when the intake valve was open with the piston on the downward stroke along with the initial exhaust during overlap creating a depression? It seems like I h...

Re: Basic Induction Tuning, round two
Like I mentioned before, if when you have the engine on the dyno and your making a pull, when you have it high in the rpm power band and you start seeing the positive atmospheric average readings, put something over the inlet and see if it kills the motor. If it does that tells you the outside atmos...

Re: Basic Induction Tuning, round two
I mentioned this already in the first thread I think on page 13. We already understand this concept of resonance tuning with runner length. What has this thread in an uproar is the csa AVERAGE over any 720 degrees location being above atmospheric pressure. Anyways best of luck in the EMC. Looking fo...
