Re: NGK Counterfeiters

Counterfeit Ford/Motorcraft parts have been easy to spot in the past, but the game has changed. The best way to avoid fake factory parts is to know your sources. Like it or not, the dealership is still the best place for obtaining your genuine OEM parts. Larry Salisbury https://www.youtube.com/watch...

Ferrari 208 GT4's and 208 GTB's. Worked on those during the 80's.

Re: Traco Engineering

Didn't they build the engines for the mid 70's IROC Camaros? Seems I remember reading about that. Yes, the 70's IROC Camaro engines were built by Traco. There were two versions. The first version from 1974 - 1976 was a 336cid SBC that put out around 440HP, and the second version from 1977 - 1980 wa...

Re: Traco Engineering

Larry I could hardly wait to login today because I knew that you would respond to the Traco Engineering post. I really enjoyed dealing with you guys when I worked at Arias because I knew that those pistons would be involved in Trans Am motors-a series that I followed closely. Also cool to see Locke...

Re: Traco Engineering

Traco Engineering was started by Jim Travers and Frank Coon in 1957. The business started picking up around 1962 and they hired their first employee Frank Schmidt that year who was an engine mechanic for Lance Reventlow's Traco powered Scarab race cars. Schmidt was eventually promoted to shop forema...

Happy Birthday Ed Iskenderian

Today is Ed Iskenderian's 97th birthday. Called Isky earlier today to congratulate him. Sounds great, and will be at his usual hangout Fabulous Burgers for lunch.

Shaft rockers were allowed at the 2006 Engine Masters Challenge. My mistake.

Re: SBC 383 500ft/lb torque build

Not exactly a 383/400 cid, but did that with a 434cid SBC over a decade ago for the 2006 Engine Masters Challenge. Standard deck carbureted SBC - 507 lb-ft @ 2700 rpm. Not the way I'd do it these days. The AFR 215 RR heads back then were a pain in the ass. Shaft rockers were not allowed at the time....

Re: 327 or 377 for tube frame 1969 "Vintage Look" road race Vett

Got to say, after seeing this at GT-Racecar and now here, I love the idea of this build. Thanks it has been fun and frustrating. Next, I would like to do a tube frame Grand Sport with a Weber carb 377. At almost 66, I am gettin' kind of old for this...but, still have the addiction. A cleverly built...

Re: Chev V-8 F.O. vs. Rod/Cam Clearance

1,2,5 and 6 are the contact rods in a SBC. 7/4 swap changes nothing, 2/3 seems like it would change contact but who has used that exotic a grind other than high end stuff such as a raised cam block? I have a 4/7 cam in my personal 406 but I doubt my next cam will be anything other than a standard f...

Arias Heads No More?

Sadly, it appears that Nick Arias jr. Racing Components has closed. This is the engine/cylinder head side of the business. Yesterday, I was checking on their status and found that the website has been taken down, Facebook page is gone, and the phone is out of service. Today, I called Ed Iskenderian ...

Re: Buying small amount of bolts & nuts

Here in southern California we have hundreds of nut and bolt stores because of the aerospace industry . Plus our local automotive swap meets always have "by the pound" sellers with all kinds of specialty bolts. Mix and match , steel ( five or eight) and stainless ( slightly higher per pou...
