My take on a Hot Rod: Tbucket, BMW v8, Supercharger, Nitrous.

Hey Guys, I wanted to share a few pics of my recent project over the past two years. Technically one year on the engine and one year thus far building the car. I started putting the engine together for another project, but then decided to go in an entirely different direction once the engine was tog...

Re: adjusting timing for octaine

I can imagine under a constant load you would need to reduce timing, but you should be able to run 31-32 degrees with premium pump. If your knocking and pinging at that timing I'd investigate your carb running too lean.

Re: adjusting timing for octaine

I've successfully decreased fuel consumption on my SBC by running the idle ignition timing with the vacuum advance set up to run manifold vacuum. I have a 10.6:1 compression, 276/282-110 .502"/.510" roller cam, Aftermarket Vortec heads with 2.02"/1.6" valves. Hedman thermal coate...

Re: SBC: 10.6SCR, 8.8DCR. 87 octane?

Thanks for the input guys, I will crunch the numbers soon. So far, a quick playing around with the calculator, gas prices of different grades and potential MPG loss it appears that sticking to 91 grade is the most economic. Google Somender groove and amazed yourself with the writing. Interesting stu...

SBC: 10.6SCR, 8.8DCR. 87 octane?

Hey Guys, I've been dialing in the SBC in my Chevy pickup getting it ready for some street driving. Do you think it would be safe to run 87 pump with my engine set up? 86-95 350ci block, four bolt mains, single piece rear, roller cam block. Bored .040" over ZZ4 rotating assembly ( 3.48" cr...

It's a Autometer monster tach hooked directly to a MSD 6A, it's been accurate for a few years now.

Re: Adjustable vacuum advance to mimic 'B28'?

I decided to give it a try. Everything is reversible if it didn't work out. While removing the single plane intake from my vortec headed 357ci small block chevy, I figured this was the opportune time to bring my ignition idea into reality. http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e227/mykk/IMG_0230.jpg htt...
