I had an engine almost identical to yours about 30 years ago. Same heads, same 272 Crane cam, only I used a quadrajet carb. My car was set up different though, 79 camaro, 4 speed, 373 gears, street radials. The engine ran pretty good but always seemed to be missing something. Later I changed the cam...

That Rigid tool works very well with most tube types. Non annealed stainless is a little tough but it does work. Makes nice flares.

You would think that maybe one of those guys with a Youtube channel would cover these competitions. Usually not as professionally done but it is accessible to most everyone.

I think PackardV8 hit the nail on the head. I have seen several of their rotating assemblies first hand. None of the pistons or rods that I saw had any metal removed. All of the cranks were freshly drilled though. All of the kits that I have seen came with balancers and flexplates also.

This is a great idea. I think it might be difficult to get enough time to go into the detail that is needed to be beneficial. Most people think of a seminar as being a couple of days. That is a lot of information and would take some time.

I missed the 601 part entirely. I was thinking that the 601 casting were vortecs lol!
