Re: SBC bearing question

BillK wrote: Thu May 13, 2021 6:54 am If they were the performance bearings the "larger" ones would have an "X" in the part number for extra clearance. For instance the rods would be CB663HXN
Is there a list with those partnumbers and the respective sizes? Or is there some logic in the partnumbers?

SBC bearing question

The following: when building my previous engine I used 2 different sets to get the clearances just right. I mean one slightly bigger and one standard I believe it was. The bigger bearings were some special type of Clevite bearing but I forgot what type they were. Can someone let me know and in what ...

Well my dd is a 2.0TDI and it gets 4,2 l/100 km mileage (56 mpg). On really long distances I get more like 60 mpg. 150 hp Audi A5 sportback

Re: pistons GM 3959456

Some of you will have read previous threads. I have taken inspected the parts of the original block in my 79 vette. After removing the carbon on the piston tops, I found partnumber 3959456. These are domed pistons. What was the original intention of these pistons? They seem fairly high CR pistons (...

Re: pistons GM 3959456

That's what I found: that these were 70-71 LT1 pistons. Hm, quite strange that these ended up in my engine combined with the 292 heads.

Oh, but I'm tempted to just put 400V AC through the thing.

Re: Well they finally did it

Personally, I think "hybrids" are the way to go for regular transportation vehicles. If gasoline powered engines can be made much smaller, more efficient, and with turbos, more powerful, (which is being done), what is the advantage of a hybrid considering the additional weight to be lugged around? ...

Re: Computer controlled enforcement of speed limits in the EU

We learned today a new ruling has been past that requires all cars from 2022 to have a gps, black box and camera system installed which enforces the speed limits on the driver. You can still go faster if you press hard on the pedal but you'll be confronted with a strong wistle type sound and it get...

Re: Where in the US?

Just to give you an idea of what is happening: the EU mandated a GPS and camera system on cars from 2022 onwards which enforces the speed limits on the driver. If you go over one speed limit it's registred on a black box and you get an ever increasing annoying 'beep'.
