Re: Who here actually drives an EV/HYBRID?
To argue that a neighborhood of 100 houses only has 65-66 kW of service available makes no sense to me. This means that these houses must not be allowed to have electrical appliances, electrical HVAC, or even a hairdryer/iron for fear of causing a blackout in the entire neighborhood. Is this the ca...

Re: Who here actually drives an EV/HYBRID?
P= U * I * Sqrt 3 P= 400 * 95A (=0,95 * 100A) * 1,73 = 65.740 W or 65,74 kW Per hour you can thus supply 65,74 kWh (look who is the idiot here) 65,74 kWh = 1.557,76 kWh per day. for 100 houses, which means 15,5776 kWh per day per household. If one house would be able to draw 63A the rest will have ...

Re: Who here actually drives an EV/HYBRID?
Dude, it doesn't matter. You get X amount of kWh (NOTE the 'h' in kWh) per day, hour, minute, second and you can divide that over the users, period. If one uses more than the other, someone else has to use less. There is nothing more to it. Compare it to a pipe flowing water. Divert more water to o...

Re: Who here actually drives an EV/HYBRID?
A residential grid is made up of 25 mm2 cables supplying on average 100 houses. Considering the cos phi it means 95A is available in that 3f grid. Making for a MAXIMUM DAILY supply of ca. 1600 kWh (P= sqrt 3*400*95) or 16 kWh per home. With an electricity consumption in a car of 20 kWh per 100 km, ...

Re: Who here actually drives an EV/HYBRID?
In regards to anything electrical and grids, yes, obviously I know more than you. If you consider that an insult it is primarily your problem. A residential grid is made up of 25 mm2 cables supplying on average 100 houses. Considering the cos phi it means 95A is available in that 3f grid. Making for...

Re: Who here actually drives an EV/HYBRID?
I can't imagine the state of affairs if even 1/3 of the daily drivers were EV. Not yet anyway. The EV camp has certainly placed the cart before the horse. Really? You think the grid will get added capacity before the demand increases? Well, in this country, capacity IS increasing. Mostly through re...

Re: Who here actually drives an EV/HYBRID?
So with 100% EV, the US grid would need to increase by 30%. 1/3 EV => grid would need to increase by 10%. I am thinking it will take at least 5 years to get there. I'm all for it although, stats like that, being what they are, can be manipulated to suit the cause. I'm not disputing it, just saying....

Re: Who here actually drives an EV/HYBRID?
. . . the grid was at or near capacity and rolling blackouts were imminent. I can't imagine the state of affairs if even 1/3 of the daily drivers were EV. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dfyG6FXsUU&t=689s So with 100% EV, the US grid would need to increase by 30%. 1/3 EV => grid would need to ...

Re: Who here actually drives an EV/HYBRID?
There have been other “ev” ideas that didn’t make it. I wouldn’t bet my money on it.

Re: Who here actually drives an EV/HYBRID?
Making definitions like that can win any argument. And the EU is known to be lying on more than one occassion to win a environmental stance discussion. Attached a link to the 'City' of Peer with ca. 16k inhabitants. Sure is a big city isn't it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peer,_Belgium https://www...
