mt-engines gave some great advice in that post.

I used the Callies Ultra XD rods in my 434.
These will clear a std base circle cam with a 4” stroke sbc. Great rods besides having more clearance.

I have one of those tools and the radius must not be made correctly. It gives incorrect duration numbers. I went back to using a lifter

Yes, but it's not mine. The sbc will stay in the dragster.

The BBC goes in a truck where it belongs.

Re: What Brand Aluminum Rod BBC

Bolts are ARP2000

They were positively identified by GRP as their rods.

Thanks,

Can anyone help ID this brand of aluminum rods from these pics? No name anywhere on rods. (+400 BBC rod) I thought they looked kinda like MGP but they said there's all have their name on them. These only have a hand engraved SN on the cap near bolt. Thanks, Rick AlumRodsideA.jpg AlumRodsideB.jpg Alu...

Re: Cam for 406 mud racer

I need this thing pulling like a freight train at 7500 not like Prius With your specified combination, that is just not gonna happen; using ANY camshaft. Exactly right. Considering you don't have enough CSA in the head to peak at 7500. You would probably need a cam in the 280@.050 range. But you wo...

Re: Increased PTV clearance as a by product of .....?

at +/-8 degrees the piston is lower in the new combo by only .002",
at +/-15 degrees the piston is lower in the new combo by .004",
so that isn't the change in V-P you are seeing.

Re: Bill Jenkins , Larry Meaux and header wisdom.

I spoke with Jenkins at Topeka back during the Pro Stock Truck days and I asked him about the 292 heads they used. He said they got up to 340cfm when they were welding them. When I asked about writing a newer book he mentioned he was still getting $500/month from the old one which was close to 20yo ...

Re: SBC RETHINK.... 4" stroke SHP PRO block 6" rod or?

Adam, The Callies Ultra HD rods have the bolts and parting line tipped/rotated to allow more rod-cam clearance. See their website for video of rod clearance comparison in sbc. These cleared my cam but were about .020" so I milled .020" in a very specific and small area of rod to increase t...
