Re: BBC rear main leak

I have blown it up larger than the forum allows. I think most of us see in the second photo a big gob of silicone in the seal cavity holding the seal away from seating on the block. There is also seen some silicone behind the main seal lip which might not allow the lip to flex normally. So yes, dist...

Re: BBC rear main leak

Something wrong here? Believe that's just a photo optical thing, the seal is offset, parting line. Yes, optical thing. Can anyone see the sealing EDGE isnt there on one side, didn't think the picture was that bad. Leak has nothing to do with the silicone You don't think that big wad of silicone on ...

Re: LS intake sealing

But 1/8" o-rings actual size is .139. Such is the way, at least from MCM. ](*,)

Re: BBC rear main leak

AA,
I would like to see you put a new seal in there without the silicone just to verify things.

FWIW I use the Ford gambit of offsetting the seals and a very thin film of sealer at the rear of the cap face.

Re: LS intake sealing

Checking a different brand of o-ring might prove interesting.
I would use the o-rings with the gasket just in case a solution is discovered.

Re: BBC rear main leak

All that special silicone where it is and where it is not doesn't bode well for your case

Re: Two piece connecting rod design.

My inner curmudgeon asks don't we have enough stuff flopping around in there already?
I am opposed to adding more steel wrist pins to the mix.
Will we need to add another line on our balance card?
Will it be considered reciprocating or something midway?
Curmudgeon now taking a nap.

If you have a Fire Stick you can load up an apk called Smart Tube. Solves all your problems. It's YT without all the BS.

John Kaasae uses an abrasive wheel like a scotchbrite pad to clean TI valves.

Tried to watch that once before but the sound is so bad without a mic that I can't understand half of what Jon is saying.
