Re: Anyone familiar with D/C brand superchargers?
DC stands for Dan Cap or Danekas (RIP) for short. I forget what the Cap stood for. Marc Danekas made a "Super blower" with really large diameter rotors for TF but it never caught on. I suspect the fuel systems of the era couldn't keep up. Lucille Lee (RIP) drove Marc's TR3 resin TF in the ...

Agreed. Rocker balls and rod nuts for the budget win.

Re: Scat Pro Comp I-Beam Connecting Rods - Balancing/Grinding
Seems like I would never get a job done if I had to send most sets back.
"balanced sets" is a relative term and varies widely as to definition.

Re: Scat Pro Comp I-Beam Connecting Rods - Balancing/Grinding
Agreed, they should be darn close to dead on, but what you may need to take out of the small end of a rod like that should be taken out of the piston in the pin area. Yes this will make them a matched pair . This would just confuse things as it is assumes the pistons are also dead on. It takes a lo...

Re: Scat Pro Comp I-Beam Connecting Rods - Balancing/Grinding
I am looking at my Scat Pro Comp I-Beam Connecting Rods and hypothetically speaking, if they need to be balanced - weight removed off small and big ends, is it acceptable to grind the following areas: sum-180sbf6200i_rs_xl.jpg Small End - Red arrow - flat machined surface Big End - Orange Arrow - s...

Re: the art of a valve job
Another option is to buy a CNC mill. You can buy a very nice one for much less that $150K It has the advantage of being able to make a 3D shape rather than only a revolved shape. A CNC mill also has the advantage of versatility, if you design a part, it can be producing 24x7. Curious What machine w...

Re: the art of a valve job
I’m in the Philippines at moment setting up a machine for the scooter market. I was shocked how many scooters there are. Heading to Australia in February for the month. Small world. I do some balancing on those little, bitty 1 cyls that they drag race in the Philippines. I thought the first guy was...

Re: Scat Pro Comp I-Beam Connecting Rods - Balancing/Grinding
On the big end, a little here and there off the edges will do the trick most of the time. Do the small end first. That often brings the big end closer to correct. If you aim for less than a gram take it to close to a gram, then work the big end. Then go back and final dial in the small end. On the bi...
