Re: Why are there single pattern cams.

I do. It was in those mid-late 2000s Vipers. Here's an article released in July 2007 www.thehemi.com/news.php?id=20080211-1 Interestingly, for this application intake lobe timing to crank remained fixed, whereas the exhaust lobe timing could be varied by 36 degrees c/o "an off the shelf modifi...

Re: KB hypereutectic pistons

Was the tech John Erb? He used our knock controller on the dyno when he was at Silvolite. This was in the '90's. Great guy, really savvy I was working with a highly respected SoCal tuner in mid 90's, and John E was interested in producing a line of motorcycle pistons - - anyone know if they did, an...

Re: 83' C30 6.2L diesel

The 6.2 and 6.5 engines are indirect diesel injection, with two combustion events for each power stroke Rebuilding a fundementaly flawed design is risky, and modifying it for greater torque further decreases its lifespan For reference to "tuning" an indirect injection 2.4 litre 4 cyl Toyot...

Re: Diesel using WMI?

Wikipedia suggests you have a Toyota 1N-T 4cyl 1453cc engine, 74.0 x 84.5mm bore/stroke, 22.0 to 1 compression INDIRECT INJECTION, not direct injection engine IDI engines create TWO combustion events for each power stroke, the first (partial) combustion occurring within the pre combustion chamber, f...

Re: Diesel using WMI?

Is my set-up injecting too much? I'm potentially injecting 1.5 gallons per hour in an 89 CID motor. As at my maximum boost I should be at 51.8% (22.285/(50-7)) maximum injection rate, that should be 0.77 (22.285/43 * 1.5) gallons per hour, but I get knock from the start of boost. More information p...

Re: Why an engine makes more power off a burr finish

Chad Why do you think the ports are cleaner? Does that apply to port injected engines as well? Does the distance between intake manifold port injector and clean wall surface remain constant regardless of injector to intake valve distance - - and do the manifold runners and ports of direct injection...

Re: Why an engine makes more power off a burr finish

The wet fuel debate might be clarified by running a carburetted burr finish inlet manifold and head combination, then swapping on a similarly burr finished efi manifold with injectors and tuneable ecu - - has anyone tried this?

Click on JohnP's sig and look at the accelerometer he built and fitted to his pool cue

Very creative, and not just acceleration but directional too :D

Decades ago we bored a 1970 Honda 750F to take 900F pistons, which needed approx 0.050 added to create the desired 10.5 : 1 compression Placed the guinea pig piston in an ali saucepan with water up to the top ring land including under the dome, and tig welded the ~1/2 x 1" rectangular flat port...

Re: Engine swap ideas for a 1979 Mercedes 240D

In order to get around the vibration problem, I was able to buy an adapter from Jags That Run that bolts to the rear diff flange, and allows me to run a normal driveshaft with U-Joints. A one piece shaft ends up being a bit long, so my critical speed is around 130 mph. Car is not running yet, but I...
