Re: Holley 9379 on a street Car
That carb should work great in my opinion , BUT you must check fuel pressure , no more that 6 psi if higher then you need a regulator.

Re: Rod bearing clearance
Why do you recommend .040 side clearance , that seems excessive to me , I would not want to exceed .025 to keep the rods from dancing from side to side , what would you suggest for vertical clearance , with what weight oil , also try the right side tomorro , your a little grumpy. Have a great day :...

Re: starting/oiling bbc after sitting 3 years and dynamic compression test
I would not spin the engine over with valve train attached , you may ruin the camshaft , back off the valves if you want to spin it to get oil pressure. An old distributor makes a great priming tool with a little modification.

Re: Any of you guys have an F.E. Ford manual flywheel sitting around ?
BillK , I don't have any dimensions for FE , BUT I balanced one about 6 months ago and the new flywheel was loose on the crank hub , the customer asked if we could help fix the issue as he had no way to purchase a new one . I just prick punched around the flywheel enter ID and it fit much better , N...

Why should the series be mostly spec ? What is the reason behind that thought process ??hoffman900 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 23, 2024 9:50 amIt’s a driver development series, IMO, it should be mostly spec.swampbuggy wrote: ↑Sat Mar 23, 2024 9:37 am Thank you sir, but that really is surprising to me. Seems like an IROC in the Craftsman Truck Series ?

Why , this is a standard brand setting unit in metric measurement on Ebay . The link is below , could not find any Sunnen units in metric. https://www.ebay.com/itm/333856450304?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D262136%26meid%3D90ef0c7bf3f942fc8cdcc4e8e...

Re: HEI pulling timing. Any solutions?
It’s the slew rate of the electronics. That’s the best I can explain it, but it sure as shit retards. If you don’t account for it you won’t know how much timing you actually have. Another reason as to why locking out a distributor is bad policy. @Tuner can explain it far better than I can. ClassAct...

Re: SBC rod to cam clearance
Are you guys telling me you used a standard base circle cam with a 4.00" stroke ? AA Performance , I used 3.875 Stroke ( 422 ci ) with a standard cam , I will double check on cam size Monday when I go back to work , but I am almost positive it was standard diameter. Customer supplied the cam ,...

I just did a 422 shp with 3.875 stroke Scat rods / crank etc. and standard 242* x 246* X 110* HR cam diameter , don't remember cam lobe lift , customer picked it out , it was a Comp Cam , my crank / cam clearance was just a tad over .050 .

Re: One rod 10 grams heavier on big end
Balancing engines is a wast of time. People who expect to get paid for it are just ripoff artists, race engine scammers, frauds, so why bother. At 6000 RPM the G force at 5 inches from the axis of rotation is near 5000 G, so 10 gm. is an imbalance force of only 50,000 grams, or 110 lbs, so that won...
