Re: Aussie burnout engine bearing clearances?

^^^ I agree, that's why I'm asking for clearances/tolerances in the Aussie style burnout engines - as far as I am concerned these are taken to extremes in both rpm, limiter and environmental abuse....I can make some decisions based upon these builds.

...also piston to wall clearance as well - would you open them up a bit from manufacturer spec? Any special coatings on the pistons?

Re: Aussie burnout engine bearing clearances?

Melway, the thing is being built at present, that's why any tips would be appreciated, presently methanol, but may change to E85. RPMs aren't going to be any where near the Aussie stuff, it has one of those flexy OEM steel cranks in it....more like 5k, blower 10-percent overdrive.

Aussie burnout engine bearing clearances?

Anybody know what clearances the Aussies run in their blown, injected big block Chevy burnout engines?

Re: Dominator - can't even get it to idle

back the timing down to 30 and take it for a spin......you can check the beginning of the advance curve by using your timing light.....not sure if you will be able to view your tach though at the same time.....maybe video it with your cell phone so you can see what advance is at 2000 and at 2500 etc...

Re: Dominator - can't even get it to idle

Side question......has the engine been run in? If not, I'd be getting the carb/timing close and taking the thing for a spin to bed those rings......the revs will probably pull down a hundred or so when in gear. If you don't know where your advance curve starts to creep up, keep the thing around 2000...
