Re: Thinner piston pins and moving pin up in the piston

When running pins under 22mm in diameter you should consider increasing the thickness of the pin boss to .200-.300. The load on the intake cycle ,on the pin boss, is concentrated to a much smaller radius and is apt to pull the pin right through the piston.

Very close to mine. You have 20 degrees more on the cam but smaller heads and you have an electric water pump so I'm gonna guess it's close to a push: 562hp . 534tq. I don't have a sim so this will let me see how mine compares.

Re: Jesel Equal 8 Engine

Wayne invited me to look at that engine when it was apart being freshened for Speedway engr's museum. The one that I saw had been to Bonneville. Very impressive I have to say.

Re: Ron Iskenderian has passed away

It's always sad when a parent has to bury their child. Ed is fortunate that he has many friends to help him through this. The burger joint will be packed I'm sure.

Re: Carb recommendation SBC 383

Shop hard for a 3310 or 3310-1. Down leg boosters, 780 cfm. It should be all you need. I agree, my recent build showed my 850 dp outdid my 3310 by only 4 hp and that was pretty far up in the rpm range. These 780s are designed for 396 bbc at 375hp and for 427s at 425hp. Just for grins I tried both c...

Re: Head Studs or Bolts?

When I had a racecar with lots of room around the engine I used studs but in my street Camaro I used head bolts in case the heads had to come off.

Re: How much swirl is too much swirl
Everything I have found suggests the piston top is just as important to preserve the tumble effect as anything on the head side. Not sure how any of us can really quantify that within our budgets, maybe DCal can chime in.
Bob, You know the drill...The customer is king and we can on...

Re: Merry Christmas

Hiya, I had one of the greatest Christmas weeks ever. Even dinner with my kiddo's and grandkiddo's all together. After visiting at the casa, Applebees is a bit void, we went and I encouraged everyone to just order anything. I am pretty sure we ended up ordering EVERYTHING on the menu and just potlu...

Re: How much taper on a 4032 piston skirt?

Pistons ready to install. After much thought I decided to get an expert to finish the skirt and ring grooves for me. I will definitely have another go at completing a set by myself. I'm pretty confident I can do it, but not confident enough to risk trashing the engine in my daily driver. Next time ...

Re: Piston wear

If you want close up those clearances call up linetoline and have there abradable coating installed it will be smoother and wear in the clearance. That sounds exciting, do you know how much a thing like that costs, and are they willing to do that whit only two pistons....? This is exactly what CP s...

Re: Piston wear

What does the skirt measure at the gauge point now? should be close to 4.593 unless those clean areas on the dome mean they are hitting the heads. Of course, that could have happened from excessive clearance in the beginning. Your rod to stroke ratio is 2.098 so the skirt length is fine. Would you p...
