Zakira's Garage near Cincinnati could probably build a complete new Offy engine. I believe they have some of the original Offy casting patterns although I can't find that on their website just now.

Re: Reducing cam bore ID in an aluminum cam pulley?
I got some aluminum foil tape ready to put on the cam. There's these guys for allowing bearings to be mounted in oversized, loose-tolerance housings. Take a look at their "AN" series. I don't know how you get just one, maybe ask for a sample or find a distributor? http://www.usatolerancer...

Re: Mr Fueling.
Jim Fueling believed that 3-valve heads were the ultimate design for performance engines for various reasons and used them on his Oldsmobile Aerotech engine. He claimed to have developed the design before Mercedes and Ford and that they duplicated his ideas. His lawsuit was settled but I'll leave it...

Re: Steel Main cap material
You may also want some "plain ol' " steel like CR1020 to make the line boring cutting properties more like the cast iron block. Virtually any steel design will be stronger than the original. Use Loctited studs to take advantage of the stronger cap.

Re: SBF Girdle Modification
I know it will give extra strength and stability to the bottom end but, I can't say what the percentage might be. I'd be interested in what a mechanical engineer might think it will add. ...... this came to me through Dan Gurneys main bearing support of the late 60's. Mechanical Engineer here; not ...

Re: Brazing Aluminum
In a past life I worked at the Volkswagen of America HVAC factory in Fort Worth which now may be Valeo. They assembled aluminum tube assemblies by dunking them in vats of molten metal and "ultrasonic soldering", so with the right cleaning and solder or braze material - yes.

Re: positive locking fastener
Neat idea. Seems like it would prevent unlimited backoff but there would have to be some loose motion for the spring clutch concept to work on the threaded diameter. Also would the male thread become damaged and one-use? Is precision sizing of a socket wrench required? Not criticism, just observatio...

Re: Energy Harvesting | Y-Prize Competition 2019-2020
TLDR but energy harvesting is COOL and probably only commercially feasible within the last five years! One thing my employer has looked at is Siemens wireless control switches powered by their own "snap" through piezoelectrics. No wiring at all, an output signal is transmitted by RF to a c...

Re: Help finding air filter, by dimensions
Here's a 2012 Fram dimensional catalog. You might find some appropriate size and then search for availability or equivalents in other brands.

Re: Anyone familiar with tdcommons.org ?
The inventions I mentioned are something I can't possibly implement.... I was in the medical industry in the 90's and worked with an engineer known as a dreamer and a "concept guy" that had a few individual patents he'd paid for himself. One was a flexible, foldable computer/PDA screen - ...

Re: Anyone familiar with tdcommons.org ?
I have several patents filed by companies I have worked for and I found this commentary: https://hackernoon.com/tdcommons-an-treasure-trove-of-ip-b98c486475bf It seems to me that if you think you have a world-changing idea or something you can't possibly implement, it's not a bad idea. Why not? Coul...

Re: Glue for extensions on heater core lines
Heater core has steel pipes sticking through the firewall. Previously cut down in lenght because engine is placed very far rearwards. They are steel (or brass)? .... if the bends had been copper, brass etc. But they're plastic . But; if I had some bends in the right diameter, it might have been a be...

Re: Glue for extensions on heater core lines
Is solder a chemical? And yes, you can solder steel, especially with the lap joint you're describing. Use "real" tin/lead solder for easy wetting of the parts, not lead free. If the core is all metal I suspect it's soldered brass which would be extremely easy to solder. If it's plastic wit...
