Re: Carb Tuning: IAB and Transition
While I understand the function of the IAB and have worked on it tuning my Barry Grant, a fellow car guy has asked a question that I can't say I know how to answer. Or even what's being asked. Quoted: AED 950HO on ZZ502. Tuning the transition slot running a bit rich at cruise. The options are reduc...

Re: Rich 3000 rpm cruise
This old block is ready for new IFR’s. I really do think my factory block is defective. 20201003_172229.jpg 20201003_175257.jpg 20201003_175310.jpg 20201003_182220.jpg I started using the pink gasket a few years ago when I started moving the IFR to the lower position. You say you are going to try a...

Re: Carb Tuning: IAB and Transition
20201003_171930.jpg 20201024_042129.jpg I like to do transfer jet in main body modification, I think there is to much slot area in most holley style carbs which leads to excessive fuel enrichment at low engine speed/ throttle position. My take on air bleeds are the bigger jet allows more air in ear...

Re: Rich 3000 rpm cruise
Well, I did what tuner said. Cleaned up the secondary valve edges and closed them tight. Closed off the secondary idle mixture screws and ran off the front ones. The engine did not like it. Gave me a stumble at secondary opening onset. Ran very weird. For giggles, I did the usual. I opened them the...

Re: Port Energy Anomoly?
Not that it means much but here is numbers by AFR,comparing flow numbers is not a great idea but they are not inflated by AFR. my opinion is they have not achieved anything, they bolt another set of heads on the engine and it runs the same, WOW . I have done that test more than once with same result...

Re: Moroso Speed Calculator 89650
I forgot to mention I have talked to guys over last couple of years at the track who have changed rear gear ratio with no other changes and expected ET improvements. All have said the only thing that happened was rpm increases with no ET gain. My opinion is gear/ tyre diameter go hand in hand and al...

Re: Moroso Speed Calculator 89650
I am a fan of the slide rule,it is something to work towards. With my own combos it is usually 15hp or so relevant. As been discussed previously if you are not using the potential power of the engine work on the rest of the car and leave engine alone. This is another chart worth looking at 20220815...

Re: Moroso Speed Calculator 89650
I've seen the old Moroso slide rule has been mentioned here at Speed-Talk every now and then. I was kind of surprised at the amount of merit it gets from folks I wouldn't have thought put any faith into it. Opinions? FWIW, I went back and dug out some old time slips, chassis dyno results, engine bu...

Re: Rich 3000 rpm cruise
Rich 3000 RPM cruise at 70 mph at 20 hg of vacuum with my Holley 750 Street HP 82750SA vacuum secondary. 13 AFR. Everything else is in range and clean. This is a 4150 with 4 corner idle. Downleg boosters. This per my AEM UEGO AFR gauge. The carb is set up as follows: Front curb idle at 3/4 turn. Tr...
