Re: 1970 Olds Rallye 350 Restomod

Thanks Kenny, The Rallye is an attention getter, that's for sure. It should be more of one next year.

Just ordered this :D

Re: 1970 Olds Rallye 350 Restomod

Next up, we have plans of adding a Torq Storm supercharger. We are working out what to do for an intercooler. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be happy to hear them.

Re: 1970 Olds Rallye 350 Restomod

For 2019, we decided to switch over to fuel injection. We decided to try out Fi-Tech. We also swapped out the HEI for a MSD that is controlled by the Fi-Tech. It wasn't the easiest thing to tune, but It is so cool, and it does run better than the carb. We decided to try out a TH 200 4R transmission,...

Re: 1970 Olds Rallye 350 Restomod

Once complete, we put the engine back in the car. At first, we put it together with a Holley 850 HP, and a modified HEI ignition. We got the car running in time to put it in our local 4th of July car show, and we won! IMG_20180624_215758254.jpg IMG_20180624_230452500.jpg IMG_20180627_194936011_HDR.j...

Re: 1970 Olds Rallye 350 Restomod

The Rallye spent the next couple years in the body shop. We started rounding up parts to get the 350 back into running shape. We started with the 350 block that was last used in the car. It was bored .030" over. We had a good crank. We had some #5 heads but decided to get some Aluminum heads fr...

Re: 1970 Olds Rallye 350 Restomod

It had a brake locked up when we drug it out of the garage. It spent the next year getting things like that back to operational. Then it went to the local body shop and got repainted, and externally restored to it's original glory. To pay for the body work, Dad decided to sell the 442. This was a 70...

1970 Olds Rallye 350 Restomod

My dad bought a 1970 Oldsmobile Rallye 350 brand new, off the lot, when he got out of the navy. I'm not quite sure how it's still in one piece at all, after hearing several stories about the car all my life, but it has survived pretty much unscathed. The car ripped around on the street when Dad was ...

Re: Let's talk port velocity --

[quote=ptuomov post_id=836849 time=1574604395 user_id=9433] I have no experience with air cooled 2-valve ancestor-911 semihemi heads, other than observing them making a lot of power turbocharged. Most Porsche four-valve heads have 27.4 degree intake-exhaust included valve angle and intake ports sign...

Re: Let's talk port velocity --

Is there anything that we can use to estimate ideal mean air speed for different head types? I'm assuming the 420ft/sec F1 port is very straight, with little turn into the bowl, and has perfectly even flow all the way around the valve. I work with 4 valve single's in motorcycles and atv's with peak ...

Re: Twin cam timing

I work on single cylinder 4v atv engines that peak around 9500-10,000 rpm. My personal engine is 490cc, 96mm x 67.6mm with 37/31mm valves. I have a 42.5mm slide carb, and the exhaust is a step header leaving the head at about 1.6" od. I've got a couple cam profiles I like. If throttle response ...

Re: BEST EPOXY

I use the Splash Zone A-788 on ATV cylinder heads for a couple years now. It has worked very well for me. I coat it with Wurth Rust Guard if I know there will be alcohol in the fuel used. Prep is very important, and it is some sticky stuff. It helps a lot, to dab your finger in water when you're try...

Re: Ever had Z spar A-788 give you trouble?

Do not mix water into it. Take a warm to room temp cup of water to dab your finger tips into when working with it. Are you building an area up? Mild, moderately, excessively? Are you filling a hole? Explain. I'm using it to re-shape the floor on aluminum single cylinder motocross type engines. It c...

Re: Ever had Z spar A-788 give you trouble?

Awesome, thanks guys! The stuff is coming up on a year old this spring. I can certainly blow argon at it when I seal it back up though. Is there a way to tell when it's past it's prime? Also, noted about the alcohol. I will get some acetone. I don't really know why I got alcohol anyways other than e...
