Perhaps consider having the old bearings coated?
Would save you a ton of cash.

Re: Exhaust flames - running lean or just high temp?

I'm guessing that's an alcohol getup with mechanical injection.

Lots of part throttle.
They aren't really meant to be ran that way, and the mixture will mostly be greatly effected by barrel valve settings

Re: Why no Ardun hemi head SBC conversion?

Hey pdq Have you ever considered it would be easier to put a newer drivetrain in something. You know motor and trans mounts Than to Frankenstein an old junk pinchport pooch thats neutered by a 3" stroke? Have you ever seen an LS7? In person? Do you know how much you would have to spend on a gen 1 tu...

Re: SBF weight?

I weighed a few thing of mine today: E0 bare block, .040 over = 119 lb D5 loaded head = 49.46 lb x 2 217.92 lb total Aluminum, loaded head (2.02 x 1.6) = 28.94 x 2 Dart advertises their aluminum 8.2 ford block at 83 lb 140.88 lb total That is a 77 lb weight savings. As I remember, the installed wei...

Re: Cleveland trick flow 225 heads

Chad,

How much more does a canted valve symetrical head like this flow in comparison to a pinch port deal with a similar cross section, or volume (if length is considered)

Just curious

Thanks

Re: 1 5/8” headers and 500hp?

Not my data.... Never been too keen on very large primaries. A customer once said he wanted 2’’ primaries on 4 cyl 500cc cyl engine. I asked why. He came up with «You’re stupid and don’t understand shit».... However 1 3/4’’ Stepped to 1 7/8’’ on the new 371 cui V8 for 8500+ rpm shiftpoint should be...

Out of curiosity, where did you get the diameters from? World of Outlaw Sprint cars are making that power from 410ci with stepped headers starting at 1 7/8”.

Some even run a couple inches of 1.750" first

Made 360 hp 400 torque. Turns 6300 every lap. I dont run as much gear as most because it runs out of steam at 5500...

Re: 8 to 900 hp out of a 1st Gen. SBC Block.

I wish they would reproduce an upgraded version of the 400 block but it would probably be over priced for what it would be. THEY do. But "they" is DART. .230" wall thickness; 4 bolt splayed steel main caps, priority mains oiling, no more head bolt holes going into water jackets, pre-stroker clearan...
