Difference in rear main seals?

I went to order a Rear main seal today, but before hand I had a brief conversation with my machinist about it. I was going to use the FelPro 2904, thats usually what I use. But the machinist said to get the Fel Pro 2918 seal, which is a harder compound. He said If I was going to use the 2904 I might...

Re: Todays equivalent of the Eddie C454 Intake?

Got ya. I wasnt even thinking about it right. It will see 200 miles (AT most) a week on street and then AT LEAST every other weekend at the track( If Weather Permits).. Eventually wanna try out the power tour. I was just concerned about this motor being in a 4000# truck with a heavy 4L80 transmissio...

Re: Todays equivalent of the Eddie C454 Intake?

Thanks Joe. Seems that my only option is a dual plane if I was trying to gain more TQ down low in the RPM. I have a Vic JR 454-R. I was going to save that for a EFI conversion later. But should I go ahead with it now? Dont waste my time with the Dual Plane C454 or Air-GAp?? My setup is a 496, 11.1 C...

Re: Todays equivalent of the Eddie C454 Intake?

Yes the 4500.. Its runners looks much larger then any other "factory" intake I have seen. I didnt get to look at the C454 to long, it also lookd like the runner walls might be thinner vs a newer intake. I was looking for a good flowing dual plane, something I can improve with porting if ne...

Todays equivalent of the Eddie C454 Intake?

So whats todays equivalent of the Edelbrock C454 Intake? The Performer doesnt look like it flows enough to live up to the hype I have read about the C454. The Performer only flows 280 CFM out of the Box, I have no clue what the or Air-Gap RPM flows but its casting doesnt resemble the C454.. The Perf...

Re: Cam options?

Heads are looking like they will be around 106cc, so I can go up on gasket thickness to get my compression back around 11.1:1

Re: Cam options?

So I have been hunting cam and springs. I felt a solid flat tappet was gonna serve me best with the street driving. I wasnt really looking for high end HP but rather good TQ down lower in RPM.. i found a Howards Solid Ft cam I like and seems it would be a good fit for my 1.8 rockers. Howards, Mechan...

Cam options?

I am building a 496. Was going to go in a 84 Z28 1/4 mile car. But we decided to build a RR car with a SBC outof the camaro.. So this motor is going in my truck. It isnt going to be a daily driver.. Will be a street/strip toy. Mostly strip with some weekend cruising.. Long story short, my cam got dr...
