Re: Couple of questions on breaking in a new HFT cam

.035 is a touch close. I would get some +.050 retainers or locks. that should get you in the neighborhood of the range you need to be away from coil bind. you could do it and be fine, but i would probably wait for the new engine and just break it all in together. motul, driven and lucas all make goo...

and at that point, I am betting summit will sell that new companies products.

Re: Resonator placement

The drone is the flowmasters. thats what chambered mufflers do. get something straight through like an ultraflow, or of you really want quiet get a turbo muffler, but the turbo muffler might kill a little power.

Re: windsor torino build ideas?

if it were me, 418" windsor, afr 165s, and a decent dual plane intake would make a ton of tq. the bad thing about a 393 is, by the time you balance that short counterweight 3.85" stroke crank for the short 5.956 windsor rod and heavy stock 302 piston, you have enough in the rotator to buy ...

Re: 11.5 compression, Iron Head, 91 octane

E85 is a possibility, there’s a pump 3 miles from my house, but something about being tied to a specific location bothers me. So far we have: Keep the quench Blend chambers/ valve job Dialed timing Cold air What about the ivc? Is it of no consequence? I have smaller cams, one I like is 66* (seat iv...

with the hex heads in the top of the ARP studs, ive gotten them in and out in the car and then pulled the heads. not too big of a deal usually.

Re: 11.5 compression, Iron Head, 91 octane

Some of the Japanese stuff make over 3hp per ci on 93 at close to 13:1 with port injection/carburetion with aluminum turning a ton of rpm. I would try to make it work with iron by running a later IVC and keeping the coolant temp in check. with a stock cam, iron heads, and boost on the stock shortblo...

Re: When does custom porting become beneficial?

I just looked up the price of the Profilers, forget that. A set of AFR enforcers will get you where you want to me for 40% less and get you 8mm stem valves and a modern chamber. then you just have to worry about the CSA limitation of the runner.

Re: When does custom porting become beneficial?

port shape isnt going to matter much because its not above 6k, and as far as airspeed, you are limited (in terms of mean air speed and flow) by the cross section. i say put a set of as cast profiler 195s on it. its not going to matter. the valvejob and chamber will be far more important if the targe...

Re: Intake Manifold Porting Show ‘n Tell

Possible. It won some events in one of Paul Gentilozzi's cars. It has been fun to disassemble. Would love to know what the build sheet / cam specs look like for one of those of that era. Warp, you ever get to play with these cars? I'll see if I can't get around to putting the degree wheel on it and...
