Re: Bill Jones books ISBN
Update: "So, this often happens at local libraries; where a locally relevant book goes out of production and frequently 'comes up missing'. The library would contact the author or their estate, and get permission to have a small printing firm cut the book out of the binding, scan it and print o...

Re: Bill Jones books ISBN
The Mrs. is a Librarian, who cut her teeth as a Catalogger at the Library of Congress. She now develops catalogging software for Public, Business and .mil libraries. Apparently ISBN's come from the PUBLISHER, not the LoC. I put her on the hunt. I'll update this with whatever she finds. It may be pos...

Re: truckedup has died
Rest in Peace Tony. We'd only spoken a few times, but I always looked forward to his posts. He seems well liked by all, and given the nature of the internet, thats quite a feat in itself. He will be missed. Kind thoughts for his friends, family from us at Auto Gear (Upstate NY)

Re: what sealant to use on expansion plugs, cam tunnel plug etc
We currently use blue Hylomar. It makes life so much easier, opposed to RTV. We did use import grey RTV, with a special pair of pliers (which really did make application a breeze and maximize product use) There was a guy on the boards here that is a rep for these products. I forget his handle but hi...

Re: Break in oil magic
Lake Speed Jr was the certified lube specialist for "Joe Gibbs" Driven Racing Oil. I think, at one time he was at least part owner. He definitely knows his stuff :) He was a salesman for Gibbs. Maybe Joe certified him  When I asked him technical questions about the oil he was trying ...

Re: Distributor and carb options
My old man has an AVS2 800cfm carb on his 383. Its been great, but my dad fat-fingered the keyboard and accidently ordered the manual choke. oopps. Theres no elec choke conversion kit. Small detail, but make sure you get exactly the one you need.

Very cool stuff, thanks for sharing. I'd be interested to see an AFB on there just to round out the test.

My retired GM at Auto Gear, was the Plant Engineer who oversaw the Wheel Abrators at New Process Gear /New Venture Gear/Magna. The different types of media you can use and how much compression you get, along with trying to keep the machines from devouring themselves? Its a completely different proce...

Re: Non-EP, GL-1 gear oil - brass, synchros
Our applications struggle with ATF. We worked with Driven Racing oil to develop a non-synthetic GL4 that would hold up with 500hp in streetable applications. It works very well and shifts smooth. Valvoline changes their additive package slightly on occasion and synchro wear is extremely short when t...

Re: Dyno question
In theory, some rear axle ratios are going to be more efficient to turn than others. However, 4.11 and 4.30 are pretty easy to produce. If you had some weird ratio, it might show a slight decrease in power.
