Re: BBC 540 build!!

its hard to weed through all the talk to figure out what the combo actually is. In my vast experience (sarcasm) a fairly serious pump gas 540 makes about 700 hp with all good parts (good heads, solid roller, 10 . ? CR, etc...) look at the 540 combo's from reher and morrison, steve schmidt, shafiroff...

Re: BBC gear drive

does anyone know if the milodon blown / injected gear drive can be used with a flat cover in a normal application ? I'm not blown / injected right now but may be some day.

Re: BBC gear drive

so far i've looked at milodon, RCD and Donovan gear drives. They all look good. One thing i think is at least with the milodon it looks like you have to modify your block in a way that there is no going back. Thats not good.

BBC gear drive

I've been doing lots of reading mainly on blown alcohol engines in a book by Paul Chirayath. He says that any blown alcohol engine should have a high quality 3 gear drive. So i've wondered if this would also be a worthwhile upgrade for my BBC race engine. I was looking at the milodon setup and it lo...

Re: Dart Pro1 227 Platinum vs older 227

i know this is a little off topic, but a friend has a set of the AFR 227 cnc heads with the 60/40 and they may be to small for a fairly serious 423. I don't know how they compare to the Dart heads.

Re: Small cams on 106-108 LSA’s

I've built 3 or 4 chevy small blocks with the smallest comp thumper cam. I am very happy with it. For a fun, reliable 350 i use the Edelbrock E-street heads, flat top pistons, RPM air gap intake, 750 Vacuum holley and the above mentioned cam. Its on a 107 LSA. Brian EDIT: i have also done the same m...

i've come to the conclusion that with the mainstream media, the stories are pretty much the exact opposite of the truth.

Re: BBC heads question

my best pass is 9.26 at 144 when the car was 3400 pounds. I use the calculator on the pro-systems website. I feel given the math that my motor is making a legit 850 hp. Obviously its going to fluctuate based on the air and my awesome tuning skills. I lightened the car up since that pass and went 9.2...

BBC heads question

So i used a set of AFR 335 CNC heads for a number of years on my 555 BBC. They worked good and i think the motor was making about 850 hp according to my math. I took the motor apart to fix a spun bearing this fall and i decided to sell / upgrade some of my parts. I sold the AFR heads for a really go...

Re: I want to try Hard tire street legal races

The way to win street races on a small tire car is with a SBC on nitrous. You need to get hooked up then ramp in the spray. A SBC in the front of your car helps with weight transfer. An aluminum motor such as an LS would be even better. I basically gave up on street racing a few years ago with my bi...

Re: SBC oil pan gasket help

i have dozens of pans. I just started cleaning up another 1 pc pan and i bought a felpro 1886 gasket. I had to zip cut off the dipstick extension in the block on the drivers side. There was a plug that was in the block so tight above the dipstick extension that i could not remove it. Just for laughs...
