Re: SAM's SB2 At The EMC And The REC

Vizard vs Warpspeed engine build contest..........best ave power after 300 dyno pulls............LMAO... How about 1 attempt, no dyno time before the competition. Your first Cam,lifter headers, oil pan etc is your only. Won't you just do it yourself there chief, since you're calling Dave ...

Re: 400 SBC build

This is all great information. I just got back from the machine shop and block is already .040 over....so the machinist says its junk. Back to square one. Looks like if I want to do this, a 400 SBC build...going to have to get a new aftermarket block. Why is he calling your block junk at .040" over...

Re: 400 SBC build

Well, Im down to three cams. Not sure how they are going to work out with my 10.5 compression, but here they are. All are flat tappets. Mike Jones cam - 284/288 and 228/230 @ .050 for .528/.528 lift on 1.6 rockers and 110 lsa It appears this cam will be around 195 to 210 psi cranking compression on...

Re: SB2.2 lifters and cam cores

There are no production aftermarket cam cores available, for that much lobe lift. You will have to have a custom cam core made. You may find someone willing to grind you the lift you want, on an aftermarket core, but it won't last long. All the SB2 cores, were designed with NASCAR in mind, and with...

Re: SB2.2 lifters and cam cores

Is there a dedicated set of lifters for a block drilled for the SB2.2 lifter "pattern"? Also, what kind of cam cores are available for SB2.2s? I can get a big block Chevy cam tunnel and a 55 mm cam tunnel for the blocks I'm looking at. The 55 mm would be better for more lobe lift and larger base ci...

Re: Scott Foxwell Challenge

David, I say offer the challenge to anyone who continually dogs you out about your cam selection tech. There are plenty of naysayers on here that do it quite often whenever your name is mentioned, while offering not one shred of cam selection expertise to replace yours with. They offer up no relevan...

Rod bolt stretch

Can I use a vernier micrometer to measure rod bolt stretch? I haven't compared it to my stretch gauge yet, but I will when I get a chance. I know it would be a different measuring point, but do you think it will be accurate? To me, there is nothing more aggravating than fighting that dang stretch ga...

Re: SBC 350+.060

I'd say you're right in there for performance. A 6.74 at 100.33 mph is strong at 3172 lbs and 360 ci. Shift rpm looks good too.

Re: SRH 2892

Maybe I'm missing something here. Even 600 "observed" would take a world class car and effort to run those ET's at 3090. I agree with it likely being around 580-620hp(corrected) engine by looking at the sum of the parts. But I just don't see that running 5.80's at that weight. Maybe I need to rerea...

Probably see minimal change either way you are maxing out the stock heads.
I'd like to get the heads and intake out your way this winter to help them out some.
