Re: 401 sbc ready for the Dyno
That's a fantastic running engine right there. It's gonna haul the mail quite nicely!

Re: Jesel or T&D?
spring.PNG Why such a large diameter strong spring? Chad Speier ported the heads for me on the intakes only and assembled them afterwards. This was during the height of Corona and it was very hard to find any parts at all. This was probably all he could find at the time that would work with what I ...

Re: Jesel or T&D?
T&D told me to measure to the tip of the valve stems to the surface of where the stands bolt down to get a good height. Jesel hasn't said anything about that yet, lol.
By next week I'll know because I'm gonna order something from one of those companies.

Re: Jesel or T&D?
$700 doesn’t sound like a difference in brands, but entirely different spec levels / systems. What are the differences between what they’re spec’ing out? I don't think anything. Aluminum rockers with stands from both companies. You're probably familiar with the sb2.2 valvetrain layout, but they're ...

Re: Jesel or T&D?
I think if I was designing / building a 9000rpm V8, I’d be talking to both directly and not on a forum. Both are / were used in NASCAR and other high rpm settings (circle track and drag racing), so they both have what you will need, just depends what that is. I have talked to both, and there is a $...

Re: Jesel or T&D?
I think they are both quality. When I was looking at them, in the application I was buying for I wanted a stainless steel rocker, T&D had them and Jesel didnt. Sheldon at T&D was very helpful when I placed my order. Got it super fast, which was impressive since they said that was the first ...

Jesel or T&D?
Which is the better rocker for a 9000 rpm sb2.2?
Or is there any difference at all between them as far as quality and reliability?

Re: 401 sbc ready for the Dyno
I don't have a guess on power and torque, but I have a set of those original Twisted Wedge 13/23 degree heads that I ran a cartridge roll through back 25 years ago. We left the big ledge in the bowl which I'm assuming the fellow who ported your heads did also. They were on a factory block Lunati 40...

Re: Total Seal zero-gaps
The only engine that I've ever built with a set of Total Seal zero-gap top rings smoked above 4000 rpm or so. I'm sure Matt Hartford's car, the president and CEO of Total Seal, has zero-gaps in it and it is one of the cars smoking on the rev limiter on the line. Ran a few engines with zero-gaps ove...

Re: Total Seal zero-gaps
The only engine that I've ever built with a set of Total Seal zero-gap top rings smoked above 4000 rpm or so. At the same exact instant, the engine rattled, as in a compression knock when the oil reached the chambers. This I suppose was because the oil diluted the octane rating of the gasoline and ...
