Re: DNA Motoring aluminum SBC heads.

All I can add is there are some newly released imports out there that they got the heat treat right and are using a copper waffer seat ring. They look like the other, but are different. https://scontent.fict1-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/p720x720/106272661_3710127642337197_6540028780661913235_o.jpg?_nc_...

Re: Valve job with stones

If you want to lap it, use toothpaste.

Or dykem it up, put the valve in or stone, and spin it. If it's right, it will mark the seat.

Newly released import SBC head

Head has powder metal valve seat with a copper wafer. Different intake port, but overall a nice casting. https://scontent.fict1-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/s960x960/106226713_3713725195310775_2806733936998285907_o.jpg?_nc_cat=111&_nc_sid=8024bb&_nc_ohc=-KWGTGcPpRAAX_OIr2c&_nc_ht=scontent.fict1-1.fna&_n...

Re: cheap aluminum heads.

There are some new import heads floating around that have powder metal valve seat with a copper wafer.

Much better seat, little different intake port.

Re: Straight through mufflers

I wrapped my dynomax in the video I posted and it made a totally different muffler out of it.

I used 2" header wrap.

Re: Heads for 400 w/Mike Jones HR cam

Chad, in a perfect world I would like to be at 500/500 HP and torque. Mike thinks the compression ratio would need to be higher and use a bit more lift and duration to get there current recommendation is .576 lift with 1.6 rockers and 233 duration) with the 195 cc heads. My budget taps out at $2000...

Re: Heads for 400 w/Mike Jones HR cam

Monza355, yes, I had AFR195’s and sold them because s I read a lot about the Pro-Filers and the great results from Chad or Eric’s work. I talked with Chad yesterday and he said Pro-Filer cut back their WD’s and he couldn’t get them easily any longer. He said the ATK versions was all I needed with t...

The only thing I don't like about Profilers is the raise D port ex. shelf headers are a difficult fit.
The ATK as-cast had a standard exhaust port. But looks like they went Dart.

All of my CNC heads in the ProFiler casting are stock location.

Re: Straight through mufflers

I put 100 miles on it this weekend and it's not loud in the car at all. I could carry a conversation with no problem.

It's sounding a little different now that when it was new. It's not bad, keep it on for awhile.

Re: Straight through mufflers

It's totally different in the car and in person. The Flowmaster Ultra was louder in the car. I'm having a round aluminum muffler made for it.

Being a 4" system, the muffler selection is thin.

Re: Straight through mufflers

I had shorties, crossover, 3" into muffler with two 2.50 tailpipes. I tried a Flowmaster, Hooker, AP turbo, and liked the Spintech the best. New system is long tube, 3" X-pipe into a 4" into muffler and 4" tailpipe. I tried a Flowmaster and hate it. Just today ordered a Dynomax 7" round. But have a ...

your cam duration is actually about 4 degrees too big, for the 6,700rpm peak you wanted.
I had it at 244/253.. The builder got the cam..
