Re: Benefit to using carb wedge to level it out?

For the amount of gradient exerted to the fuel level in the floats during all kinds of acceleration, I am sure the carb doesn't mind. Once the float height is sorted for the kind of usage the carb is in, the degree of engine slant either way, makes no difference. A simple wedge can create more probl...

Re: The Tail Moves Violently Side to Side Above 100 MPH

How is the panhard bar set up?
I'd pull the shocks out and see if everything is moving freely and not binding because of some geometry error.
Check the welds on the axle tubes going into the 12Bolt.

Re: Theoretical intake stroke power under boost

It sure would. If it was a turbo engine, the losses from excess backpressure compared to anything else would also negate any gain, but yet, the turbos are power kings. This would be even further offset by aero drag if we ran it in a Winnebago... it doesn't mean it makes less power, it just means the...

Re: Theoretical intake stroke power under boost

How's that going to work? I don't know, it's theoretical, but somehow they have estimated that the pressure purge from the boiler to the steam operated engine equates a specific engine output. I am baffled everytime I put air in my tires, that it amounts to the same pressure in motion, held by an in...

Theoretical intake stroke power under boost

For you math guys, and there's plenty of you here, I'd like to pose a meaningless theoretical mathematical discussion. If my engine is 632, which it is not, and I have a big ass Procharger, which I don't, how much power is put out at just the intake stroke? Yes yes yes yes.... we hopefully will take...

Re: I'm looking for blueprints or measurements for the AMC 4L six

I want to give your thread a bump because these are pretty strong, fun engines.
We did one probably over twenty years ago, installed a camshaft from Crane and ported the head and it was stout.

In the meantime, let us know what you are planning to do, the information will probably come.

How much dome pressure is there on the accumulator?

Re: Rev limiter?

You can wire MSD 8728 to just about anything.
It's under 200bucks, but this might be a great time to think what other functions you might want in an ignition upgrade, timing control and a bigger spark.

Re: Is There Really Enough Pressure For An Oil Cooler?

Pressure is just a measure of resistance. If I understand your question correctly, and am looking at those pictures with my good eye, the cooler is fed oil by bleeding off the lubricating system of the engine, and from the cooler it goes to the tank. there can be no resistance from the cooler to the...

Re: 1 Gallon Fuel Cell?

You could try to plumb the return straight to the inlet of the pump with a Y or a T if you are worried it will draw bubbles in the tank. It could be a bitch on initial startup, but once bled of air, it could be a viable option.

Based on your description of the engine, I would not run a hotter plug than 7.

Re: Brake Caliper Position

There's nothing wrong with mounting it at 6, as long as you are aware of the issues Hoodeng noted.
It will have the same torsional effect on the chassis.

Perhaps fab up a guard, to lessen the chance of a rock tearing off your brake line coming off the caliper.

Re: How Effective Will This Be As An Oil Cooler?

A traditional cooler also adds volume of oil, it might not hold as much as the tank, but it will shed more heat. One idea is to have the tank made out of a round automotive oil filter, using a remote mount for plumbing. The filter might even have a handy anti drainback valve. The filters surface wil...

Re: Oil flush, fast or slow?

I have used diesel fuel for years. when I am up for an oil change I bring the car in with a fully warm engine, leave it running as I pour about 250ml of diesel in the oil. I let it run for 5 minutes, then shut it off and do my oil change. I've cleaned up some pretty coked up engines this way. Never ...
