Re: Patriot Exhaust header

I have a set of long tube Patriot headers in my 383. They developed a leak at the flange. Originally thought it was a bad gasket but can clearly see a crack around the tube where it meets the flange. Can this be welded with any success? I just would hate to pay an exhaust shop 100 bucks or so and i...

Terrible gasoline you get from the pump these days, I would suspect... along with to cold of a spark plug.

Re: How much swirl is too much swirl

New guy here. Thanks in advance. I’ve been working on porting some Pontiac D Ports. The un shrouding of the valves in the combustion chamber took the swirl numbers from 3000 up to 4000 rpm. Understanding that you can have TOO much swirl, how much is too much? I tested the sbc vortec 906 head and go...

Re: How much HP can this head support?

I have a set of W-2 Mopar heads that flow 294 intake/180 exhaust. 13-1/alky/7200-7500 rpm/M-1 single plane/850 BG. How many horses with a head like that support in an endurance application. I will have it dyno's but just curious. With a 368 drag race engine on gasoline, just under 13/1 compression ...

Re: 2 barrel circle track engine build recommendations

I know you want a Chevrolet combination so, I would have a 4.020" bore x 3.400" stroke with "offset ground" crank and 2" journal 6" rod. If it was mine, Getting weight off the front end of the car is probably more effective that any small power increase so, it would get a small block Ford 345. Most...

Re: Holley idle feed restrictors

My question is why did you move them up? They should be down not up. You also have to calculate what the idle air bleed is and deal with that. With a .031 idle feed restrictor you’re going to want to be at about and .072 or so Idol feed restrictor. Just following the couple of online guides I saw f...

Re: When was the holley 4776 released

The 4777 is the same venturi and booster with 750 1-11/16 throttle plates, vs 1-9/16 on the 600's. It needs the bottom of the main body chamfered to clear the bigger throttle plates. But its an easy way to pickup 50 cfm. Holley intentionally uses thick butterflies on the 4776 to get the cfm down. I...

Re: 327 balancer info

Can y'all help with finding harmonic balancer . Fits 1964-67. It's 63/4 diameter. This one has the timing mark inline with the keyway. Most are 10° offset. This is for restoration project to keep the original timing tab. Thanks for input. Just put you own TDC mark on a new one where it needs to be.

The original 305 castings from the late 70's had 350 water jackets and were VERY thick around the chambers.
Almost impossible to find these days.

Realistically they were 350 - 2 barrel heads with a smaller, revised chamber.
