Re: What size Carburetor to use with VP M5
The more things are different the more they stay the same " It wouldn't flow much more with the jets removed." sounds like Strombergs on Nitro Pretty much. But those passages were much easier to enlarge, and the carb had the complexity of a brick with a hole drilled in it. The issue with ...

Re: What size Carburetor to use with VP M5
Your metering blocks are likely limiting fuel flow with Q16, metering block main passages need to be opened or replaced with a metering block like BLP's wide body block. And Mike has you covered with M5. I tried running Q16 with a 3 circuit 1050, and the carb hit a wall right at #100 jet. It wouldn...

That was his first and only post. Tends happen when they don't like what they read.CNC BLOCKS wrote:Interesting the OP has never come back with any answers.

That's it, just heat?wyrmrider wrote:dbl check with BDS on blower size for large chevy
on too big a motor blower just makes heat. at least on a boat
If this thing is on the street with pump gas, a 8-71 will make more boost than the fuel can handle.

Re: Pushrod Length, best method
... The absolute worst thing you can do for the profile at the valve is have the rocker arm do a "Tuck under". that is reach full sweep ans start back towards the center of the valve as it completes it's lift cycle. That creates a very odd shaped profile that does not help with valve stab...

Re: Pushrod Length, best method
I've never heard of somebody trying to set up pushrod side geometry at the expense of valve side.

Re: Pushrod Length, best method
Very well done video. For those of us with shaft-mounted rocker arms, it's a much more cumbersome process. Don't I remember Miller's mid-lift treatise mentioning a right angle to the pushrod being involved also? That's getting into "design geometry" as opposed to installed geometry. For t...

Re: Valve lash questinn
Looks as if these are not sold new anymore. What are the types that are best and what is a good price for them (to the OP : do not mean to hijack the thread) Precision Measurement Supply sells them. I found mine on Ebay, and made few modifications to it to make it work for my application For warned...

I really don't much care where the swipe is, so long as its on the valve.PackardV8 wrote:Only slightly off-topic, but how often do you find yourself having to choose between the perfect mid-lift pushrod length and the one which gives the most-centered stem tip wipe pattern?

Re: Pushrod Length, best method
I have been using key stock across the retainer for years. Not exactly sure why its necessary to use high speed steel. There is an easier way that does even require a dial indictor except to check your work once you have determined the PR length. cstraub made a video explaining the easiest method I...

Re: Valve lash questinn
Basically it measures the amount the rocker tip moves in relationship to the retainer before the whole assembly, retainer, rocker, and indicator move as an assemblyBelgian1979 wrote:Lorax,
